No, not that they both fit in the Blazer in one trip across town....

But that it's a completely different Coppertone set than the ones I brought home Saturday!

And get this..... 408 Dryer-immaculate, and the washer is an 806!
Not only does it appear the previous owner polished the chrome to a high shine before the repairman dragged them off, but the lint filter in both were clean (like...new clean), the drain hose was gingerly tied with a bow to the timer knob like an xmas present, and in the dryer were the original owners manual, complete color brochure for the Maytag line and installation instructions for the dryer. Dates on the cover indicate the washer was purchased 4/76 and the dryer 8/77.

To top it off, we hooked up the water and were ready to test when we discovered there was no cord on the washer! Thanks to a donor Radarange cord, we were back in business factory-style. And kudos to whoever had bypassed the lid switch for us. I raced this machine against Ben's 806 in washing agitation and spin with full tubs of water and some suds. We were both impressed : )

Works perfect, I'm beaming! Check the link for pics of our antics...

Cool guys!! Maytag Row brought a tear to my eye. The new fin's deep rich coppertone is the one I remember Maytag for, didn't know it was such a "later" hue.

RJ just advised there's a coppertone Maytag pair for sale in the local newspaper classifieds.

Questions/Comments:

1. Picture #15, the Penway wall oven. Can't see the label. Could it be Preway?

2. Picture #16. The cycle outline indicates FOUR spin speeds, but only two agitate speeds.

3. Picture #18. Gotta love that huge water level knob, set way over to the side.

Love those A806's! Be careful about disconected lid switches, thought. Remember, the unbalance trip is also connected to this! Ouch!!

Hi Cory, wonderful new finds. Nothing like Maytags purring away. Reminds us all of the great loss of a great machine design....alas........the song: Pave Paradise/Put Up A Parking Lot comes to mind....good luck with your washers..

Another great set! Maytag had such a rich, beautiful coppertone too. Congrats!

Glenn, those 4 spin speeds were a result of the two different size rollers for the rapid 1010 spin. But you'er right, only two agitate speeds--no additional one was needed as far as I was concerned. I think the 4 spins were overkill, but was only available on the Imperial and Custom Imperial.

Beautiful! Your Maytag row is great, but I'd give eye-teeth for that mid-60's Frigidaire.

I Loved the walk down Maytag row! Very cool collection Cory. Any chance you could indulge me in a picture of the beautiful pink one at the end of the row?

Mike, that Signature washer was Norge and was the private label brand for Montgomery Wards.
