I saw an ALMOND A208 Maytag in near PERFECT condition last week, thrown out with an uneventful Whirlpool dryer, stove and fridge. Someone was remodeling, so I knew all these appliances worked fine. The washer was just mint, and how rare to see an almond 08!! Spoke to the owner of the house, said I would be back with a truck later that week. Went last night and found the fridge and dryer gone, stove in the dumpster on the front lawn, and the Maytag on it's front with the top console smashed off, dented and scratched beyond recognition. Top porcelain chipped as if it had been beaten with a hammer, and lid missing. Needless to say, I went away alone and sad. A lesson for all- grab 'em the minute you see 'em. :.(

That is a shame....But you never know what else might pop up. I spotted a pair of almonds last week behind L*wes (albiet a bit worn) and wondered how many years they made that color.

Keep smiling, something's bound to follow you home : )

That's why I have a pickup truck.Usually 'going back' means they're gone. When I spot'em,I nab 'em,ask questions later!
Speaking of Lowes, the Lowes around here are starting to tick me off.2 stores use storage trailers for trade ins, which they keep locked. One store, where I have purchased trades before, told me that I never did, that one person get's them, and I shouldn't be behind their store in the first place, and the other store told me that their trades are donated to low income people. What sort of low income person wants a DD Kenmore washer, that probably doesn't work, and was dropped hard once or twice by the Lowes crack delivery team?

Kenny,
Sounds a trailer full of honey to me. I'd talk to the general manager. I never thought about Lowe's or Sears trade- ins. I'll have to check with our stores.

Kenny - I'm with you on L*wes! I've ran into the same situation with the local outfit. I've mentally blocked them out for now with my expirences. Maybe I'll wait 6 months or so....

Lowe's

The store that just opened here puts them all in a semi trailer but it is not locked. Its almost impossible to get to the front of the truck to see what is hiding in there. It would be interesting to know where those loads go when the trailer is full. I've stopped looking there as well.

Cory is absolutely right, I don't drive behind every store every day like I used to but I do hit them as I'm in the areas. You just never know when something nice will pop up. Remember the tortise and the hare...persistence pays off.
