This was about 2yrs old with Comet (UK) extended warranty when it simply didn't turn on."Engineer" came and fitted new "main" board which appeared to show arcing damage.Turning on lights flashed briefly then off.He "said" it needed a new control board (front panel for buttons/indicators) which he would need to order.A week or so later Comet/extended warranty co. sent letter saying machine beyond economic repair,I could have a reconditioned (oh yeah!) or buy replacement with a discount.Great deal! Machine "sat" for 6+ yrs as new board was £70 + vat + post and no guarantee it would work.E bay seller recently had control board for £29.99 + post so I bought. When fitted machine worked like a dream with no problems for at least 16 cycles. Yesterday I loaded it up then switched on after plugging in to hear a loud bang from inside and again no display!
Taking top off quickly I couldn't see any electric escaping(smoke, lol) or detect any component smells.
As it's got two rivals, a Hoover and now hopefully a Hotpoint twin repair/replace isn't problem, I'd like to know where to start looking for fault.
Any ideas? The boards have GE stickers and I see 1432 parts about which hve similar look.
First post here but lurked while after twin tub.Off to collect next week so I'm dead chuffed.
