$215 seems like a lot for a washer/dryer set that's pushing 30 years of age.

The washer appears to be one of the very last of the belt drives.

That is very true, however it could have been built late 1981 to late 1986. The standard capacity machines with the interrupted perfs on the tub bottom indicates the last generation of the standard capacity BDs. No U.S. Kenmore domestic machines were made in this configuration, but replacement baskets from FSP had them after-market. Kenmore switched standard/regular capacity machines to the DD platform around the time when these machines came out by fall 1981. Whirlpool however continued to sell these, and seems to have sold quite a few in LA5300, LA5700 models, plus a few others. Kenmore kept making coin-ops in this format into 1987.

The outer tubs are slightly wider than the outer tubs of the previous standard capacity models. They share a common baseplate with the large capacity 1981 and later models, which is why the tub is a bit wider. I don't know if the baskets are larger too, but I suspect so. The dimensional differences are small though.

Nice to get the history on this very handsome washer. Growing up my friend's mom had one of these. It was a true battle tank and as with any Whirlpool/Kenmore got clothes really clean. I spent plenty of time watching it. Good to hear from you again.

That washer is identical to mine give or take a year. Only difference with this one is lack of the Suds saver.

Looking at the inside of the basket photo it looks a bit grungy, especially the bottom of the lid. Also curious if they still have the bed-of-nails lint filter?

Second to last:

The last BD models for had a fully sloped console like that of the dryer featured. This washer has the console before it, which has one inch of space at the top that is vertical. I believe the newer consoles began in 1984. I would guess this to be a 1982 or 83 model, given the lack of the traditional Whirlpool cabinet indents that were seen on 60s and 70s models. If I am correct, models had those indents up through 1981.
