But that is about the worst wash basket I have ever seen, if someone buys it I will throw in a free wash basket, I just scrapped an L-1000 last week where the washer looked like new.

Kevin made the same comment about that tub when he saw the photo. I was wondering if people would balk when they saw how worn it was, but with your very generous offer to donate a replacement, that shouldn't be a concern anymore. Thanks for stepping up like that.

If you look at the 1958 A142 Tim got in March last year, it has the striped glass panels, the copper accent around the dial and a copper tinted lint filter assembly. It also has a different style two piece lid with a tub light inside it, and the early style badge on the front panel.

This pink set was made in 1959 and still has the striped glass panels, the copper accents(it looks like the lint filter is copper colored as well), and the early style badge on the front panel. But the top panel and lid (along with the tub light) have been updated to the newer style found on the 700 series machines.

The pink set I brought down from Spokane for Kevin was made in 1960, and apart from the little disc at the center of each dial, the copper accents are gone. His set also has the 700 series glass installed in the control panels, a tub light in the usual place, and the later round medallions on the front panels.

So in a sense, the 142 and 641 didn't come to an abrupt end, but gradually evolved into their 700 series counterparts until there was little left to do but change the name.

Another way of looking at this would be to say that three revisions were made to the machine over a two year period. I call that that gradual, so I guess were going to disagree here Mark. We simply have different definitions of what "gradual" is. But I won't let that bother me if you won't.

And by the way, I'd love to get my hands on a copy of the earlier washer parts catalog that covers the AMP machines and the A142. It has a dark green cover. I know you've got quite a bit of literature, which means you're probably pretty good at tracking it down. So if you should ever happen to come across one of these I'd appreciate it if you could let me know.

He told me he was hoping to get $700.00 for all three, meaning the washer, dryer and the fridge. I told him I thought his best bet for getting them sold was to separate the fridge from the Maytag's and he seemed open to that. But then today he tried to get Marty interested in all three. I'm sure he'd prefer to sell all three at once and be done with it, but that isn't likely to happen, though who knows. He may get lucky. My advice to anyone interested is to just be polite, and be patient. If the machines don't sell as a group he'll come around. Just don't burn any bridges in the mean time.
