A Wilkins Servis 401 with heater. Yes....faded control panel and a bit dirty. Luckily, a spare control panel came up with the delivery.

Well done Leon!

Would you mind keeping your eyes peeled for any early front-loaders for me please....you seem to have extraordinary luck with these things!

Well done Leon, another stash of great finds, looks weird seeing the MK32 with pushbuttons, is the pump an electric one on this type then? spinner has the solid spin can so great for overflow rinsing!!

The Hoover panels are nice in the shades of blue, and is the heater in the bowl of these tubs? on the mechanicals pics is that the thermostat on the nr bottom LHS of the tub?

I do like all those push buttons on the International series, congratulations!!

Thanks Mike

Hi Mike,

I will have to check the pump....I don't think its electric but will let you know.

As for the Hoover and Wilkins: the heater elements are at the bottom of the outer bowl and yes: the wires you see are for the thermostat.

Cheers
Leon

Revelair fan?

twinniefan's profile picture
Hi Leon, a great lot of additions to your laundry famly, tell me in picture 10, the main shot of the Wilkins Servis 401, there is an older type electric fan, would it be a Revelair by any chance?
Also have you seen the box of Non-Ionic Blue Punch detergent on ebay?

Yep...it's a Revelair pedestal fan. I have a number of Revelair fans actually. Just picked up a Mark 12 Gyromatic this morning.

And no....but will have a look.

Leon, CONGRATS on more really great finds!

What years are they?

I really like the sprial agitator in the Hoover and can't get over what I know as a Maytag agitator in the Wilkins Servis.

Kevin

Age of machines

mayfan69's profile picture
Hi Kevin

Thanks! The Wilkins twin tub is 1960's and the Hoover's and Wilkins 401 are from the early 1970's.

As for the 'Maytag' resemblance, you are correct, the '400' series were the first Wilkins machines to use the Maytag platform.

Cheers
Leon

Hi Chris,

Its not luck that helps Leon find this stuff, its the hard work and effort he puts in. Leon goes all the way in trying to find these things.

The Twinnie is beautiful.

Cheers

Nathan

525 Heater model

ozzie908's profile picture
Hi Leon could you tell me if the Wilkins Servis top loader and the Hoover 525 do they have a heat stop position on the dial or is the heater just used to boost the tap hot water?
Apart from a Hotpoint top loader I have never seen a different top job with a heater I have used a few Maytags but they were heater less.
Could you do a favour for me too and take a close up shot of the controls of that Servis twin tub please?

Cheers Austin

Heater's....

mayfan69's profile picture
Hi Austin

The Wilkin's 401 and Hoover 525 both have seperate controls for the heater: 'Off, Warm, Hot'.

If you wanted to use cold water only, then these machines will heat to the desired 'warm' or 'hot' temperature before starting the wash cycle. I think that's what you meant right?

Cheers
Leon

Sure looks familiar...

The insides of those Hoovers sure look familiar. I've worked on so many Blackstones like that. I'd be willing to bet that seal on the center post leaks.

Hi Fred

Yes, that's the main issue with a lot of these Hoover's. The 525 that is mine seems to be ok, but the 560 is leaking.

Cheers
Leon

No chance your friend would like to sell the 560 or swap for an extremely good condition 725?
