like i really need this but i love the coppertone and it looks like 17 series to me, my favorite kitchenaid!

gonna pick this little machine up later this week, hopefully tomorrow, just waiting for the seller to get with me on time and place to pick up!

i have about 9 of these 17 series machines but not one coppertone in a built in model as yet! so when i saw it i had to say "yes"! it will get a good home and a complete tear down and the usual cleaning, priming, and painting of the sump area to keep the rust away. hopefully it's in decent shape!

will post a thread or add to this one after i get it and tear into it! i can't say "no" to an old kitchenaid!

Hey Pete,
Good to see you on here again. Maybe sometime I'll get to see all your machines.

Nice Coppertone 17 your getting.

Looks like Goshen is the "Dishwasher Capitol of Ohio"!

this is a kds-17

rollermatic's profile picture
which is unique in my collection. i think all my other 17's are 17-A's with the no heat dry button option. i am still amazed at how good it looks. whitey had to check it out ofcourse as soon as i got it on the front porch.

underneath looks very clean

rollermatic's profile picture
with only the usual rust on the dryer unit that i see on every kitchenaid i get. i will coat it with rusty metal primer where needed.

getting to the sump area i removed the

rollermatic's profile picture
filter and did find it very clogged with soap scum! this should clean up fine with a little elbow grease!

the sump doesn't look bad and i think

rollermatic's profile picture
that is dirt in the bottom, not rust!

i'm gonna run this one thru some cycles and clean this area up and then i will know. as for now i am not going to tear it down but simply install it in kitchen and use it for the summer. i probably will break it down this winter and do my usual rust proofing on the outer sump area.

so, thanks for lookin guys

rollermatic's profile picture
and thanks for your above comments! i can't get enough of these beautiful old 17 series kitchanaids and it was well worth driving to north dayton to pick it up! and now it will continue to have a good appliance life here with all my other kitchenaids.

right now my main machine is a kdc-17a i rebuilt with a new motor about 5 years ago. it will be great to have a superba under the sink again, with it's sani water heat, automatic rapid advance timer and those classic cycles, especially the "party" selection that was so 70's! i mean all we did was party in the 70's anyway so it's great to reflect back on those carefree days everytime i see those "party" cycles on it's control panel!

again, thanks for the comments and "circle w" maybe we can get together later this year and you can see what i have out. i have my laundry room done now with my favorite washers in it, the speed queen solid tub, the 1-18, the maytag, with my frigidaire gallery front loader and compact whirlpool dryer on top of it. my kitchen/dining area has my favorite 16 dishwashers in it and 2 rollermatics for good measure! i'm slowly getting all these appliances arranged where i want them and actually use them all on occasion! it's been a slow process since i started collecting back in 2007!

All that's missing is the box it came in!

Very clean! You seem to have the knack for finding these gems. I'm still looking for a vintage K/A or ISE in gloss black in virgin shape. My MDB9150 is still doing well so I have time to hunt down the perfect one...
