One sad thing is evident at the end of this ad: Easy no longer made Combos. Easy had more models of combos than anyone other than Philco which inherited the machine from Bendix. Easy had both gas and electric models and both vented and condensing electric machines icluding one undercounter design.
Now on to the washer. I don't see where a metal pump impeller is an advantage. It's not like a dishwasher pump with a macerator to grind up stuff where metal would be an advantage and by this time, Maytag and GE were using turbine type pumps which did not need metal parts that were exposed to the water and did not clog easily. WP-made machines had the pump protector to let hard objects settle out of the water stream entering the pump. With an adequate pump protector, first seen in the original Bendix Home Laundries, things that could clog the pump should not reach it. They might have been trying to sell heavy construction, but by this time it bordered on outdated materials. Anyplace you have water, especially hot water laden with alkaline chemicals and metal you have the potential for trouble.
