Hey guys and gals,

I am letting go of this Spacemate set. They're in good cosmetic condition. I was told when I got them they worked. I am not man enough to get them down to the basement to check them out. One knob has a chip and there's some wear on the plastic chrome around the buttons.

They're located in St. Louis. I am asking 525.00 which is what I have in them. Both the washer and dryer has their top panel. I don't have the panel to allow them to be stacked.

Thanks Travis

Very Cool Looking Set Travis.

My interest is peaked, but
I'd like to know more about
them.

Can you, at least plug them
in to see if they power up, or
the motors run?

What are the dimensions?
What size load, do they
take?

What functions are on the
control panels?

Does anyone have an idea
of what shipping would
cost for a set like this
from St. Louis to New Jersey?

I've seen a few shippers
mentioned on here, but
who would seem to be
the Best choice?

Thanks Travis.

Louis

I wouldn't just power up that washer without putting quite a bit of very hot water in the pump first. What happens if you do that is you can destroy the pump seal if there is dried grit between the carbon face and bronze face seals.

Those look to be in BEAUTIFUL condition!

Yes could you please enlighten us on what the buttons do?   My Spacemate washer only has the timer knob.

Thanks!

Kevin

Thanks for pointing that out.
I did not realize.that could
happen.

I've worked on vintage radios,
TV, Hi-Fi's, Refrigerators, etc,
but not Automatic Washer & Dryers.
I have only worked on a Philco-Matic
Wringer Washer, I had at one time.

As you can tell I'm new to this,
but am hoping to learn here, as I
go.

Thanks again.

check around for shipping companies and ask for quotes from one city to the next....this will give you an idea......

prices vary, as well as door to curb side service, or have it drop shipped at a loading facility.....depends on what exactly you select to be shipped and how...

U-Ship usually has bidding wars on who can do it cheapest, but you want it handled carefully as well....

but that is an absolutely beautiful set to consider....this is the time to react, they may not last long.....money talks!

Lucy

Is that the model Lucy hid in during the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour commercial?

Wow!  Very attractive pair!  If the dryer were mounted over the washer, is this one of the models where the unit would be turned upside down from it's current position?  And the controls would be reversed, too?

Kevin,

The buttons are for wash and rinse temps. I'll take better close up pictures tomorrow.

The cabinets could use a good buff job. They're not perfect, but very nice for their age.

I have shipped a lot of things. It would likely be 250-350 to ship these to NJ. I think they're 27" wide.

I really don't want my entire basement packed with radios, tv's, washers, dryers and refrigerators, so some must go!

buttons were kind of color coded. ON the washer the red was hot; yellow was warm and aqua was cold. The slider to the right of the buttons was the water level. ON the dryer the red was normal yellow was delicate; aqua was air. The orange button, I believe, you pushed for an auto dry cycle.

Wow, Travis those are the cadillacs. We had the one dial wonders. Hot or warm wash on the timer. and "The Heat of Hell" dryer. alr

The neat thing about WH dryer buttons was that the heat levels were labeled HI, LO and NO. NO was more consistent than air or fluff, but a little strange to see at first. These dryers, because of their narrow, long cylinders are bad about rolling sheets.

Mint Green Westy Spacemates

The machines now reside in Michigan, the Laundromat and dryer are
getting along well with the Imperial 1-18 pair and the maytag 806,
the washer clicked into spin, timer advanced and they'll soon be in
use!!! Travis is a wonderful guy, has amazing collections of Monitor
tops, westy, magic chef, and a lot of vintage radio, phonograghs,
Thanks again for holding them for me, good luck with the next set,
Kim
