sigh, i knew it would happen sooner or later. Earlier today my Hoover Keymatic draw its last straw. I still smell the smokey aftermath of that. Yep you guessed it. The motor caught almost on fire. Yes i know this machine was from 1961 or 62 but still....

Well i guess i will recycle the machine at my job. I dont think i will find an working motor to this model simply because its so old.

I had noticed the machine was "letting off its steam" the last 3 washes i,ve used it. Like the motor wouldnt drive at right speed and couldnt spin more than say 500 rpm or lower. The spin speed on those was about 750 rpm.

Why recycle it? I would keep it, the machine is too special. Could you take some pictures of it?

Hoover Keymatic

Couldn't you get the motor rewound? I did it with my 58 Philco
Duomatic, it was well worth it, especially when I hear the spin cycle,
Kim

Here in the states we can still get motors for very old 60's era Maytags... Why not at least try to see if you can get a replacement motor?
