I found a very nice center timer Maytag for sale in Fort Wayne at A1-Marks Used Appliances. The cabinet is white, the machine is a "large capacity" model, with the white tub and blue Powerfin in it. The machine is priced at $135.00 and has a 90 day warrenty. I put my fingers under the baseplate of the machine, and did NOT get oil on my hands,so this one does NOT have the famous Maytag oil leak. I did notice that the tub is stained from well water, however several people here know how to remove those stains. The machine comes with all the hoses for hook up,and A1 Marks is open weekdays 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM weekdays and by chance until 12:00 on Saturdays. They are located at 714 W. Washington Blvd. (US HWY 24 West) in Fort Wayne, and the phone # is 260-422-5700. Ask for Bruce.
This is a chance for someone to own a very nice working vintage TOL washer for not much $$$ if you are located around Northern Indiana.
Sorry,do not own a digital camera so no photos. Trust me,it's a nice one! (:

Folks - Rick's word is as good as gold - hopefully someone can save this beauty!

Ben

BTW - rick, do you remember if it had the aqua panel or the gold panel? That might help out inquiring minds =)

Geeeeeeeeze Ben, I don't recall! They all look alike to me!! LOL!!
They did have a couple other center timer Maytags, however they did not have the lighed control panel. BTW these are all the "second" series Maytag center timer machines. 1963 (I think) until about 1979.

It would have to be the aqua panel. Lighted controls panel with timer says its an 806. The later 808 had the gold stripe and lighted panel but i've only ever seen one in my life. I was really begining to think the 808 didnt really exsist.

Did anyone ever see an A806 with the gold console? I never have, and always wondered if they were a myth too!

Hey Fellas ~

Yep - there were gold paneled 806's, but no 808's, due to Maytag carrying over the 806 name plate all the way through the end of the center dial series. Cory scored a 1976 Coppertone A806 a few weeks ago. Check out the link - and he has picks in his photo album as well.

My dream machines are an A806 and D808 pair. Until then, my 608 pair will do!

Is it open to all Hoosiers? If so, depending on when, count me in.

How KEWL

Got him home. Maytag A203. Now, anyone that would be able to assist w/ the age of this machine.

In very good condition, I might add. Have to replace inlet valve, no biggie. Inside machine very clean, no rust to speak of :>>
Motor runs quite smooth..no strange noises, very anxious to get him cleaned up and run a cycle.

Thanks again Rick!! Gimme a shout, we'll get going on the play plans, huh?

Take good care:

Al :D
