While washing my baker's whites in my 2012 Frigilux frontloader, I started noticing a new noise coming from the machine. It sounded like the suspension springs expanding and contracting more than they usually do. I waited until the load (regular size, nothing out of the ordinary) was done and then tried moving the drum. It swung back and forth like a drunken trapeze artist. This seems to be more play than normal. I've only had the machine since November of '12 and I live alone, so it hasn't seen excessive use.

Can someone tell me if the shock absorber might indeed be broken or even provide a video as to what this looks like?
The machine is still under warrantee from Frigidaire and it also has a 5 year extended warrantee from where I bought it.
I would appreciate any input.
Thanks!

it is possible a strut has broken, or the rod came out of it, just from a defect during assembly......you can always open the bottom panel as well and have a look see......

they do have some free play to them as well, its not a rock solid unit inside, during a wash load, with the top off, you will see more movement than you would think of the mechanism, than just viewing thru the glass....

but as long as its under warranty, and if its no cost to you, have them do a service call, just to go over the machine....

let us know how you make out

I will do that! I was concerned about using up a service call on a possible non-issue.
Would you recommend Frigidaire first or the place I bought it from?
THanks!
Ryan

usually they will ask when you call of the dates of purchase.....but for the most part there's a 1 year warranty from Frigidaire, so I would call there first.....

there's no such thing that I know of how many times you can call for service, but most warranties have a clause, some are like after three calls for a machine, they will just replace it....this varies between three calls, or three calls for the same reason.....your mileage may vary

good luck.....and let us know what you find

Often weak or done for shocks will cause the tub to pull to one side during the spin as the machine is unable to properly balance loads. That and more pronounced up and down movement of the tub as well. If you are seeing scratches and or marks on the porthole glass it usually means shock problems.
