So, I have gone a bit crazy picking up dishwashers over the past year or so. I am now trying to clean my basement and I am tearing down machines that I knew were always going to be for parts only. If anyone is looking for anything off of the following machines, let me know. Parts are free to a good home if you will arrange for shipping.
1) KDS-15 (Tank and racks are in rough shape). I have never tried this one out, but I would bet that the pump/motor, timer, and other guts are still operational. 2) I have two MOL Kenmore roto-rack portables. I have already stripped one down. Both have good racks (yellow) and tubs / doors. The exterior components are not so pretty. 3) I have two 22 series kitchen-aids. One is a MOL, the other a BOL. I am probably going to tear down the BOL. Both supposedly work (although I have never tried them). Both have lived hard lives (the racks in both are in questionable shape) If anybody needs anything, let me know. Would hate to recycle something that someone else is looking for. |

Please check your private messages - I'm in need (okay, want) of an Antique Gold control panel and door handle for my KDS-55, which is the portable/convertible version of the KDS-15.
The photos below show the Antique Gold control panel and handle at the top - this is what I'm after. The bottom picture shows the later, Ye Olde Fayke Woode Graine control panel and handle - this is what I have and don't really like. Any info would be very welcome! BTW, this is a very nice thing you're doing - thanks for offering these goodies to us all. P.S.: The Antique Gold panels seem to have all changed color a bit over the years - they're usually pinkish by now. I don't care about that - I'm looking for something that's not fake woodgrain. |

In looking back at my post, I was afraid I might be depriving you of something upon which you had already established "dibs." I certainly don't want to take parts someone else has reserved first, or needs more than I do. Right now, my 15 is sitting buried deep in an inaccessible corner of my man-cave/laundry room and it will be QUITE some time before I can get to it.
Thanks, Dave |

We haven't yet heard from William, so there's not even any telling whether his machine has the panel I covet.
And if it does not, well - my KDS-55 is cosmetically and mechanically very nearly perfect, so it's not exactly a hardship to concede the panel to someone else if it comes to that. This is simply an attempt to exercise a styling preference. |

Sandy - just replied to your email message.
I have the woodgrain panel. The woodgrain part is ok, but the metal trim has seen better days. I also have the handle, but the kitchenaid emblem is missing (there is just glue residue where it used to be). As for the buttons, I have three of them: Rinse Hold, Utility & Utensil, and Full Cycle. The ink has pretty much worn off of them, but if you need a button, my guess is they would be better than just the prong sticking out. I haven't turned it upside down yet, but I a thinking I should be able to remove the heater assembly with no problem. Let me know who wants what and where to send it to, and it is yours! For everyone else out there, I will probably be putting some of the parts in my bins (the timer, solenoid, pump, spray arm, detergent cup assembly, etc.), so if in the future someone needs something, I may just have it. Thanks guys! |

So I finally finished getting the KDS-15 apart last night. I have saved pretty much everything except the tank, the racks, and the tank support (I even saved the rack roller assemblies).
Dave - when I got to the heater, mine has rust on it as well. The inside - very rusty, the outside has just a little surface rust on it. It is still solid though (no rust-through that I saw). If you would like still like it, and the buttons, send me a PM with your shipping info and I will get it out the door to you. Bogo - I didn't see a PM to me. I haven't started the 22 series tear down yet, but I am assuming what you are looking for is the little blue plastic piece that is on the drain line about 8" after it comes out of the pump. (I have never worked on a 22 series before, so until you inquired about a check valve, I didn't know they had one). I can get to the check valve with the greatest of ease. PM me again with your info and I will try to get to it this weekend or early next week. |
