I still have my old Hotpoint t l 9605 electronic deluxe with the spiralator agitator, I use it every day and the great thing about this machine is to make sure a full load goes in. This ensures evenly balanced spin cycles, a problem I had when I 1st got the machine was the dreaded unbalanced spin cycles due to my old front loader. Again a hotpoint liberator that when it was due to go into a spin, the drum would just remain stationary while draining. Then all of a sudden the drum would just whizz off into a very violent erratic hellish spin cycle, with out revolving slow 1st to distribute the cloths.
Over time the machine damaged the kitchen floor and had to be replaced, so did the machine so now with a new kitchen floor I dont have my heart in my mouth when I hear that very familiar CLANG of the break lifting off on my T L
It gets the clothes clean better than a f l, its a hot and cold fill. but the bug bear is I am only plumbed in for a cold fill only, and the spin speed is fast 1050 revs on fast and 500 on slow spin
I use a wash day product called ariel liquid tabs and lenor fabric softner.
Regards to you all hairybigman uk

Hi Kevin!

Nice to hear that your Hotpoint TL is going well, I have fond memories of my Grandma's Hotpoint TL, although she got rid of it in 1993 (when I was 5) so I don't remember much of it, and she replaced it with a Hotpoint Aquarius 800 which she still has to this date. I haven't used Ariel liquid tabs yet - I tend to use Persil powder (both bio and non bio), and Ariel liquid. I have tried the Persil liquigel capsules, although as nice as they were I still prefer the flexibility of powder or liquid detergent. How do the Ariel liquitabs clean?

In terms of softener, I've been using a great one recently, and it's actually a supermarket brand! It's Asda Line Fresh fabric softener, and has a very nice vintage smell to it - I took some round to Darren's on Monday (see the A Lincoln Washday thread in the pink forum), and he loves it too, so that is my recommendation of the week :-D.

Take care of yourself anyway!

All the best,

Jon

BTW, your description of your old Hotpoint distributing kind of reminds me of my aunt's 80's AEG - a Lavamat 560 if I remember correctly. Hers would distribute during the drain, about a minute or so, then just stopped the drum, sat there stationary whilst still pumping, then 30 seconds later just went up to 850rpm without any distribution IIRC. Very dramatic, and of course the machine never got out of balance and never vibrated at all cos the old AEGs were so dang heavy!

Take care,

Jon
