Playing around with a new waterproof camera case. I kind of feel sorry for my clothes. |

Nice video Toby!
A while back I made an attempt with my GoPro in my belt drive Whirlpool. When mine started to agitate it whipped up so many air bubbles there was nothing to see so I never uploaded it. I need to try again on the Gentle cycle. I didn't have much laundry in mine which may have made it worse. What camera did you use? Here is a screen shot of my attempt just as the camera is being immersed. |

I love it. Definitely a direct drive! I did video on a belt drive Lady K (which Gordon now has) but didn't think to try the spin cycle. I also did the inside of a Kitchenaid dishwasher... I'm using an Olympus myself...

I ran a full cycle with mine. I was leery of the spin cycle so that is why I only fan a few small hand towels for a load. The GoPro was in its underwater housing and securely fastened to a 1/2" square aluminum bar inserted down into the tub from above. I wasn't to worried about the camera as long as it didn't get hit by something, the GoPro's are pretty rugged.
Next time I want to experiment with some higher frame rates. The GoPro I have will go up to 240 frames per second if you drop below full HD quality. It could make for some interesting slow motion capture. The underwater audio is interesting, although it can be a bit much. I captured audio on a separate digital recorder in front of the machine to use instead of the underwater sound. I need to try the experiment again and see if I can get a little better video! |
