Hey Mark,

In reply #5, what is the machine in the 2nd row with the black on the control panel, between the two Maytags?

And... in reply #9, 3rd row back, center, with all the buttons?

Thanks!

Kevin

These are the spares! I am going to be parting with some of these machines as I plan on moving back to Roanoke when this house sells. I'll put the machines on the for sale part of the site first chance I get. Hope you all enjoy the photos....as bad as they are....Mark

Thank you Mark!

One more question: is reply #21 a Whirlpool / Kenmore?   If not, what is it?

You have an AMAZING collection!

Thanks again!

That minty machine in the foreground with the ulta-slim control panel and blue dial ~

I can not identify it--almost looks like a top load dishwasher.

Bet a buck Uncle Bob Appnut knows what it is.

Mark, what is the estimated count on your machines, 200 +, or too many to count? Breath-taking.

Oh dear!

I just showered and shaved and toweled myself this morning and now I have to run outside and turn a hose on myself all over again.

I heard a report on the radio the other day that Barbara Streisand has a complete functioning shopping mall in the basement of one of her houses. Not sure how reliable that report was but I think if I had her money I would recreate the Macy's Herald Square appliance department c. 1970 that was the beginning of the famous Macy's Cellar. Complete with annoying salesman and nerdy children opening the lids of all the washers to see what the agitators looked like.

#21 is a Whirlpool. The glass on the timer dial is broken unfortunately. On post #25 the machine is an Apex Dish-a-matic that has never had water in it . It's still on the shipping pallet!

How many machines?

Not for sure as this is not all. I have 5 garages upstairs that have machines in them too! One of the goodies is a Frigidaire dryer in turquiose that is gas. Didn't know that when I bought it so it's never been taken out of the shipping box!

Hi Mark,

Thanks for all the pics. I'm very happy that you have been able to find and save all of things that you did.

With all of the 1-18s I've seen, I've never found one with a suds saver. Have you ever come across one of those?

Best regards,
Rich

Hi Rich!

Hi Rich!
I could be wrong but I don't think they ever made a 1-18 sudsaver model...if they did, I've never seen it!
Mark

Hi Mark,

I've only seen the info on the 1-18 suds saver models in the Tech Talks. I've never met an old GM Frigidaire dealer who ever sold one.

If you look at the back of the cabinet, there is a D beside the drain hose in the upper position, and an S besides the opening directly under the drain hose for the suds return hose. I hope to find one some day.

Happy hunting,
Rich

Things that make you say HHMMMm!...

So,
Now we know what really happened to the Aberdeen Farm..

It came indoors with no grass or rust! At least 5 of the 7 acres of it-Lol

Damn! The building.. OOOPs! "House!"
Is just as intriging as the Contents!
8ft or higher Arches,No windows!, walls at least 2-3ft THICK, no driveway, tarmac, 5 upstairs Garages with More spares, no flower bed,trees..
And it's called a House! For sale too!
Is it an Americana style Pyramid?
Even the pentagon has windows.
I bet it even has overhead trolley cranes to move all those units around.
When I first saw the earlier posts of the length and width of the metal ceiling ducting, I thought Man this collector really did a Bling job on the presentation!
It looks like you started collecting from 1950!

WOW

I have a question for reply#3,
The hidden panel? KM washer-approx what year was that made?
It so reminds me of the B&O danish home stereo systems of the 60s-70s,

And thanks for the pics, keep em rolling!

Hi Recyclewasher!

The Kenmore Dryer is from the 70's. My Grandmother had one. If I had designed that dryer, the timer dial would have lit up when you slid the cover over to reveal it!

Ala the 1970 - 1974 Lady Kenmore "garage door" machines..... light up when you open the cover.

That would be AWESOME Mark, great Idea!

Whirlpool Washer Inside Showroom

Do a washer vid of the WP washer washing a load of whites with a white blanket. Play Billie Jean by MJ, this when the machine machine shakes its call the WP Moonwalk. It will moonwalk like MJ.

Lady Kenmore "garage door" machines.. light up

When you open the cover.
They do?
Well you learn something new everytime on this site!
Thanks for the updates Kevin and Lightedcontrols and I 2nd that idea, way coool .
Maybe a lid switch disguised as a lid rubber bumper...

Hmmmmmm...

If you get a chance from the "house sale contents" activities,
Can you post a pic of km console with the covers slid across?

And when you do sell the "house",
Can you post a pic of the whole building?
I'm still smiling at the "no windows look",
With the small round holes ( is that for flag poles or lights?)
Above ground submarine bunker?, tornado shelter?
Even the Bat cave has a skylight.. :) . It reminds me a lot of The Royal Jail in our city, but even they have windows... :))

Ssshhhh !! RevinKevin, I think he has the never seen in the flesh '60 or '61 hotpoint touch command 1000? set in the attic..

The house

The house you can see by going to my facebook page. Mark Harman in Wytheville, Va. What you're looking at is the rear of the two story garages. The holes are exhaust holes so that you can hook the tailpipe of a car to an exhaust hose, and it will vent the car exhaust outside. In the snowy winter, this is very handy when your working on cars! The original home built in 1925 was built with formed in place and poured concrete. When I added on, I continued that type of construction. Walls are minimum 9" thick and Max 13" thick. When Gary and I were finished, we ended up with 28,000 square feet of house and garage. The garages can be heated or cooled for your vintage autos. The kitchen is FAB!!!
The Lady Kenmore Garage door washers and dryers do light up when you flip the "garage door" up! Beautiful machines. Really top of the line.

Reply #20: Is that dryer a Wizard/Coronado? Neighbors had a Coronado washer with a console that looked similar to that one.

I can only reiterate what the others have said: What a great collection!

numb. what a collection. what an inadequate comment, huh?

appreciate all that you did here - have built two homes, 65% smaller(collectively)than your abode...grew up in a 1925 home...450sq.ft....a bathroom in your house. congrats on all you (and your partner) have achieved.

Salute'
