I bought a Hoovermatic Deluxe on eBay.
Unfortunately the seller has sent a message as follows -

'There is a problem with your one the pump from the wash tub seems to temperamental It's stopped pumping water out .. I am happy to refund. Sorry about that I hadn't put water in them till now . I don't know how easy it is to get a pump.'

I checked with parts company and am told -
'The internal valve has failed in the pump, we would advise a refund on the machine as this spare is no longer available, not even as a pattern part now.'

I have been looking for a twin tub for AGES and was so happy when i tracked this one down.

Have any of you suggestions as of how i could get it working?

Many thanks
Bunty.

Pump valve

I'm fairly sure that someone on here will have a spare valve, Bunty... If all else fails, post photographs of the old one and we can probably make you one...

Enjoy your twintub

Hi Bunty

Should be quite easy to fix. It might have stuck rubber cups. It you are quite handy you could take the pump out by disconnecting the 3 hoses, the connecting rod to the knob, take off the belt and remove the 3 screws from underneath and lift the pump out.

There is a wire clip going over the pump body. Remove this - it is a bit tricky and then the pump will separate into two. In the top half you will see the cups and you can check that they have not become detached or stuck to the body - I've attached a link showing the new cups for reference in case you need to replace. When you put the pump back together make sure the o ring is nice and clean and in the right place.

Hopefully that should solve it

Cheers
Steve :)

Daft question but

does the seller know about starting the spin motor to drain the wash tub?
