They are needed to push clothes out of the door boot back into the drum at the commence of a spin cycle when washing very full loads.
You will find them at a "10 o`clock" position if a washer spins clockwise or at "2 o`clock" if it spins anti clockwise. They appeared along with those XL drum openings. Vintage washers with their smaller washer door diameters had a deeper rim on the drum and therefore did not need a deflector. |
