I've been spending today installing my Kitchenaid Superba installed and
it's fantastic, I washed the dishes out of our camper in it today and I wish my mom
would let me install it in the house and get rid of our GE QuietPower that has been nothing
but trouble the last few months

Top rack has some rust damage that I need to eventually fix or I might replace the top rack

Great Machine

I have one in my basement that I have water tested. Everything works fine but the fill solenoid leaks (I have several kitchenaids all with the same solenoid leak). One of these days I will get around to fixing that. That machine and my push-button maytag reverse-rack are contenders for the daily drivers in my kitchen.

If You....

....Replace that top rack, I bet your mom might be more willing to use the KA instead of the GE.

Ladies. No. Like. Rust.

But after that's addressed, her attitude might well change. There is many a mom out there who would be very grateful that her resourceful son would fix up a quality vintage appliance at little cost instead of her having to buy a new one to replace one that's giving trouble.

rusted racks

It could be long to find a top rack in good shape. I've fixed mine with silicone tape about 8 month ago. It looks a bit special but the tape did not deteriorate at all.
