I actually have a funny story about that washer. For some reason my Dad had put it and the dryer on some kind of ledge or something as I recall so not only was the washer big and intimidating as a 4 years old, but it was even higher and more intimidating because it was on this ledge. When the washer would go into the final spin it would buzz to let you know that the cycle was finishing. And, on this particular machine the fluorescent light on the back panel was apparently loose so it would flicker on and off at times. Well one day it started to spin and while spinning it was wobbling. I guess it was off balance or something. The buzzer started buzzing and the light flickering. I thought it was a monster coming after me. I ran from the laundry room, through the rec room and into my father’s workshop and slammed the door which locked behind me. My mother did not have the key. It was with my Dad at work. My Mom had to call my Dad, wait for him to get home to open the door. The whole time she is freaking out thinking what I could get into while in that room full of power tools. She just sat on the floor by the door talking to me to make sure I didn’t get into anything. You see, when I was little I had a fascination with anything electrical and had to take everything apart. My mother was so worried I was really going to hurt myself in there. She sat there for well over an hour waiting on my Dad to get home. So my Dad had already installed a cut off switch in the cupboard for our Youngstown dishwasher because I was always turning it on and watching the water in the window. After this incident my Mom had to keep all the doors closed and locked in the basement except for the playroom. I was a real bad kid. One time I didn't get my way about something and I climbed up on one of the oven doors of her Hotpoint range (the one with the multicolored buttons on top for the burners) and jumped on it until it broke. It explains a lot about my how I am today. |

I doubt if the 1955 Supreme has the eight lights that this 56 Imperial has, however I am sure the 55 Supreme has some lights, possibly even the ozone bulb and tub lights. I would think the WP logo lid release lights up on the 55 Supreme as well.It looks a bit rough, but looks like it is all there. The control panel looks mint. Hope someone saves this. They are fun machines with their own unique personally. BTW From your description, this 56 model may have been what chased you into the toolroom. |

I think you are right. As I look at the picture of the 56 that looks more like what I remember. I do remember the button in the middle to open the top and I think it did light up. That dial in the middle looks more familiar to me than the first one. I think the dryer had the same button in the front but she didn't use it as much. She loved stuff hung outside as I recall.

I emailed the owner Friday and haven't heard anything yet. I would really hate to see this one destroyed! If I don't hear of anyone getting this one I will try again later this week. It ins't too far from me. |

We had a 1965 RCA Whirlpool set--I'm not sure when the RCA was dropped. We had an RCA color television--our first one. |
