Just wanted to let everyone know that the Ephemera Library now has complete service manuals for every major design of the Apex Wash-a-Matic and the Spiral-Dasher agitator automatic as well. I had no idea Apex made an automatic with a Sprial-Dasher agitator similar to their 1940's wringer washers, but in an automatic!
I was lucky to find these manuals on eBay recently. I also will be scanning and posting the dryer manuals when I get a chance, but here are the new washer manuals I found... www.automatice.org/cgi-bin/index.... www.automatice.org/cgi-bin/index.... www.automatice.org/cgi-bin/index.... www.automatice.org/cgi-bin/index.... Oh and before I forget, another "Holy Grail" to be found would be the last bouncing basket Apex models (6010 and 6011) from 1956 with the color lights above the dial. The red, yellow and green are obvious, but anyone care to guess what the Blue light meant lol? |

Love the "Blue" light. Funny they didn't using the word "Bluing", but I suppose the popular fabric softeners of the time were also blue in color.
Bluing...what a blast from the past! My mom used Mrs. Stewart's frequently for white loads. She'd dilute some in a measuring cup, then pour it into the timed fabric softener dispenser on our 1960 Kenmore Model 80. It was fun to watch the bluing come in through the holes in the bottom of the tub as the machine filled for the rinse period. Removing the plug at the top of the bottle almost ensured your fingertips would be blue-stained, LOL. :) |

I was reading and thinking right along with you, and like you didn't know why, either. And then......
Call it light from Kelly, but the answer just dawned me and you'll get it right away.
Fill Wash Fluff Spin and Blue are all verbs in this usage. Bluing, a gerund or participle, would have ruined the parallel structure. See! |
