I'm again curious as to how this particular line of self-cleaning filters work. I cannot work out how the water flows in a such a way that soil is collected and backwashed into a "chamber" then flushed away during the drainage phase.

See a diagram from KitchenAid on their machines (Superba 23 with PowerClean module) just makes things more confusing.

Does anyone have a clue where the water flows and how it flows? Diagrams? Thanks in advance :-)

Here ya go..Here is a link that explains how it works...I had the patent but when my P.C. crashed I lost everything.

That is the beauty of this is how simple it is and how great it worked....

Just remember that the water is pulled from the bottom grinder and when it is on top of the turbine it spins and water spills over

the round wall with the ground food over and over with plenty of power and water to go to the wash arms.

Link fixed.  The site software doesn't properly parse links into the "URL Link to share" entry field that begin with https:, it lops-off the colon separator.

They do work if included via an  < a href >  tag within the post.

Thanks!

I was still a bit confuzzled after looking through the literature. But then I Googled the PowerClean Filter Module, and found the service brochure for the 1998 Whirlpool Gold machines (w/ PowerClean), which included how the water flowed.

Then I found a service video on YouTube, where I discovered the pump impeller lives inside a smaller cylinder and the centrifuged soil goes over the rim of that cylinder and into the soil chamber. I'm actually surprised this filtration works - it seems too simple!
