FilterFlo was in town and we had our second annual winter wash-in. We had about 12 people, with half from the club including Jimmy, Scott, Erik, Gary and myself. Golittlesport (Rich) and HarvestGold (Gary) were not able to make it at the last minute. We also had some mutual friends and car club buddies over who were curious.

It was a pot luck dinner and Jimmy did up some homemade sloppy joes, with mac n cheese and several side dishes. Scott brought a homemade side dish that everyone ate up! Erik brought a cake decorated with "2006 Wash-in" on it. We started around 5 and 7 loads of laundry later, folks headed out around 10 or so. We all had a great time. Enjoy the pix.

V14

Erik takes note of the fill rate on the V14 vs. the Kenmore. I just love this machine!

Sloppy Fred

Fred, and Jimmy's friend from SFO (sorry, I am terrible with names and I was running around trying to get everything set being the host and all) dig in to dinner.

Kenmore Timed Bleach Dispenser

Jimmy about to add bleach to the 1967 LK. BTW, we went to the appliance junkyard in Glendale AZ last week. I found the solenoid I needed so I now have timed fabric softener working again!

Jimmy pointed out that bleach should not be added until the last 4 minutes of the wash cycle. Otherwise, you kill the cleaning enzymes in the detergent. The kenmore powers the solenoid on at the last 4 minute mark of the wash cycle.

Kenmore wash action

Jimmy and Scott discuss why the LK goes into medium speed during the wash cycle.

V-14 Filter Flo water action. The best way to trap lint!

Jimmy's Laundry done

Jimmy had his two loads done quickly. We had all the machines going at the same time and did 7 loads total, 2 in each GE and 3 in the Kenmore. We even did a nuisance load in the V-14 mini basket!

Here is a little over half the group for our final shot of the night (Gary, Jimmy, Mike, Scott, Scotts Friend, Erik). We all had fun. Hope to do it again next year. Rich (golittlesport) we really missed you. HarvestGold, hope you can make it next time.

Mike was a great host, and we had a wonderful time. His collections are great, his decorating wonderful and we had a lot of fun and great food! I met some great people and got to see some others I had not seen in some time.

Thanks again Mike, look forward to seeing you again soon.

Wow, so much cool stuff!

Mike, I love that wallpaper--not to mention the Flair and the "gravel art".

And those washers are pretty cool, too! ;)

I still think your GE (Americana?) fridge is the coolest thing on ice.

Veg-o-matic

Thanks for the very kind words.

The wallpaper comes from Mellinamade up in San Francisco. She has some great retro stuff for sale.

I found the stone paintings at a local mid-century antique store in Long Beach.

We were not in the house too much this time so I did not get any new picures in there but the Americana is doing fine and I did demo the auto-fill ice tray. We also watched Lucy on my recent purchase, a 1966 RCA New Vista Color TV.

Oh, and HarvestGold is John, not Gary. Like I said, I have a very difficult time remembering names.

Mike

My mom had the same washer (Kenmore in turquoise) in white when I was a kid. I lasted 17 year before she replaced it That brought back some great memories of her. Thanks

Great pictures, nice laundry area, the GE poster has one of my dream list dryers on it! Awesome garage, twin lifts with what looks like a mint set of wagons, one Buick with vista roof and one what, 66-67 Ford Country Squire, and one of my favorite cars, 66 Toronado! Can't quite make out the white one though.

Yes Mike, thats my friend Mark Davison from SF, originally from Ohio. He is my Judy Garland collector friend and he and I and Don Shire (Jetaction) have attended the Judy convention in Minnesota several times. He had never been to Hollywood so he came down and spent some time with me and toured the sites. He and the rest of us had a great time at your place with the Wash In there. Thanks for the fun!

Thanks/Your Welcome

Hi all,

A thanks to all who posted and to answer a couple questions:

My coke machine is a 1964 Cavalier/Seeburg converted to take bottles and/or cans by the local Coca Cola bottler here in LA.

Veg, the inside of my house is undergoing some light moving of "stuff" and some freshening of paint in the kitchen. When I brought home the RCA console TV, it caused an explosion of sorts in my living room area, as it was about 5" longer than the Magnavox table style console stereo it displaced. This extra length caused the room to burst at the seams, so with the help Jimmy provided when he was visiting, I started moving things around. It will not be final until my 1967 GE console is put back together and is in the house, with my 1965 GE console moving to the laundry room. When it is all done, I will post pictures.

"Your welcomes" go to Scott, Jimmy and Erik from their posts/emails/snail mail thank you's.

Will probably host another in July or August.

Mike

Nice Photos

Nice pictures of your place and the group. Are those speakers Pioneer HPM1100's or HPM150's?

HPM150s

Hi,

They are 150s. My SPEC 2 amp is being rebuilt right now, so these are currently connected to the Seeburg Juke in the wash room. When the amp gets back, I will set up my Pioneer dream system that I could not afford back in '79. I have the SPEC 1 pre amp, SPEC 2 amp, TX9800 Tuner, RT909 reel to reel, and of course the speakers.
