As it seemed finding one of those chrome dryer stacking stands was going to be like winning Powerball, and one had to get some space around here summoned the super and shifted the AEG dryer onto the top of the WP portable. Will post pics when things are call gussied up.

Really was comical as the super is a 6'5" young man from Eastern Europe who is quite strong. Said to him "you take one side and I'll do the other lifting from the bottom". Well here's poor little puny Moi was making an attempt to lift the AEG when in one easy effort the Super has his side and pretty much the entire dryer lifted and moved over onto the WP! *LOL*! Even with the two units stacked he could see clearly over the top of the AEG. Now that is tall! One assumes he could have done the job himself. Besides making a mental note for him to have a nice Christmas envelope, must also start going to the gym!

Didn't purchase any special stacking kit, just put down some of that non-slip shelf/drawer liner on top of the WP. Don't know if the heat from either dryer will affect the stuff, but intend on also finding a good mat to slide between the units for protection. Until then may even put down some squares of cork one has lying about spare.

Actually having the AEG on top of the WP works out well. The WP is on casters so shifting the entire lot easy, just as long as there aren't any sudden move or such that would cause the AEG to tip over. However seems like the non slip mat is holding the feet of that dryer pretty firmly in place. Also the WP is serviced from the back only so unless one is planning to do a tear down there isn't a need to get at taking the top off.

For it's part the top of the AEG dryer is now right at my eye sight which makes it easier should one have to remove for servicing. Indeed both sides are also easier to "see into" now that one wouldn't have to bend to get at them. Hopefully none of this will be necessary anytime soon.

Will get out the spirit level later to see if the AEG is that way in it's new arrangement, then slide the lot back into place. Am going to find a nice tablecloth or something to cover the top of the AEG to smarten it up a bit. That would also allow one to place things on top.

This would have suited your needs, I wonder if something similar would have...

Now that I think about it, doesn't Ikea have some options aswell?

However saw and quickly ruled out those racks.

First they are based on the "Metro-Shelf" design in that special spacers on the bars hold the shelf and from reviews read online they aren't very stable. It would be fine for the lighter weight Avanti dryers, but my WP portable "compact" is larger and actually heavier. This is as it should being of vintage all metal construction.
