the motor itself, if it is bad, should have all the numbers/ratings/RPMS/model# needed right on it even if no info exists on the overall dishwasher model.
This is the Hotpoint version of the late 60's GE Mobile Maid. Search this site for Mobile Maid for lots of info.
Your machine overall looks very nice. I just restored a 1966 GE and I am thoroughly impressed with its performance.
Other pro's here can advise on motor testing, but don't despair. GE made a zillion such motors

mine did the same thing at first. Unplug the machine, stick your fingers up inside the bottom of the motor and try turning it by hand a bit. That's all it took to free up mine. If you have a relay problem, that's another story and I don't know how to check them, only replace when needed.
Have you yet found various ratings and stamped ID information on the motor? |

This DW uses a completely different pump and motor than yours does Mark, this one has the horizontal shaded pole motor that GE used forever. The thing that often happened to this pump and motor is it would get stuck if they sat too long unused. you can try freeing it by putting your fingers in the fan and turning it CW [ machine off and unplugged ] when looking and the end of the motor where the wires come out, if it is hard to turn and them breaks loose and then turns freely it may work just fine.
The nice thing about this style pump and motor is you can even substitute a new much more efficient GE pump and motor that uses just one third the power and is far quieter. |
