The non-spinning stack saga continues...now the dryer won't heat...I hope it's something simple like the high-limit thermostat..(like on my DG 106)...and not some giant PIA thing....should I go stick my head in the oven now?

Jerry...is this electric?.....could be the relay not kicking in....most likely something simple.....were gonna need John or Drew to anwswer this one for us

are you still having issues with the washer as well?

I just got a stacked unit, I know you were having issues, and didn't want to get you upset, I just had to do a bearing job, and a good cleanout, and so far running smooth....got it for a song, but was in pieces, miracle I got it all back together...

these ones are a little complicated to get into, built a little different than the stand alone units...I have the gas dryer...

It's electric....maybe I should stick my finger in the socket to make sure the outlet is sending out 240v

I know on the TL stacked set I have, there was the heat relay not clicking 'on'...20.00 later, it works...

problem is looking up where its located at on these units....theres a control board in the upper right corner of the dryer, as well as units behind the control panel....

check your schematics....for help with locating it....

check all connections as well to make sure they are snug

Well before you tear into the machine, have you checked the circuit breaker to see if one side tripped? It could be as simple as that....

Non Heating MT Neptune 240 Volt Stack Dryer

combo52's profile picture

Probably most likely thing is a bad heater element, but it could be one of about 10 other things. The good news is that there is no computer that controls the heat and no heater relay, it could also be a burnt wire at the junction block, bad timer, temperature switch or thermostat and even a bad motor centrifugal switch, You are just not having much luck with Maytag Laundry Appliances Jerry.

We figure that more than 1/3 of our total repair income still comes from repairing MT appliances, the Maytag Man was anything but lonely during the last 15+ years of MTs existence and is why MT stopped using the Old Lonely theme in their ads toward the end of their existence.

checked the continuity on all thermostats/ high limit switches and the heating element and such...all OK.. the test leads on the voltmeter are too short to fit in the 240 outlet to check for correct voltage..more tests soon!

That is a good idea, but first wet your finger, then grab onto a nearby water pipe with the other hand just to be extra sure..

Better yet, wet your finger and grab John with your other hand as a ground. It says to do so in that 'over used' Maytag Repair manual... Lol!

MaytagMan comments, indeed!

RCD

P.S. LOVE YOU, John...
