"SUPER Hot Water" ? There is warm water, 120 degree water, and then there is SUPER HOT. Like Markus Bachman, it's SUPER !

"No SQUATTING" - umm ?
If you're squatting on, in, or for your dishwasher, I don't want to hear about it.

"GIANT capacity" - compared to what?

"Saves time, Saves Work, Saves water" - The abuse of the work SAVES was not just an 80s thing.
WHERE is this savings bank of resources it claims to have SAVED?

"dishes actually dry in their OWN heat" - dishes don't create heat.(?)

Another ad that would keep me FROM buying.

I don't know where on Mir you live, nor how much you have studied the history of appliance advertsing, but the standard advertising for dishwashers in the 40s, 50s and 60s included language about the machine washing dishes in water hotter than hands could stand. No squatting (or bending) was because it loaded from the top so you did not have to squat or bend to lift the door closed or deal with the lower rack as in front loading machines. Giant capacity indicated that it held a service for more than 6 such as the Youngstown Jet Tower did. "Saves Time, saves work saves water" is basically true. Tests have shown that machine dishwashing saves water over hand dishwashing. It was easier and faster and gentler on the hands to load the machine and let it wash the dishes than to stand at the sink and wash and rinse them by hand. All of these are assuming a family instead of an individual doing normal meal preparation and cooking in the late 40s to the early 50s which often took more than an hour before the meal was placed on the table because there were not as many prepared foods on the store shelves as today and no microwave ovens. One other factor used in favor of dishwashers in advertising was reducing the loss due to breakage when washing and drying by hand. The fact that dishes subjected to high water temperatures became hot enough to flash dry when the lid was opened meant that the dishes would dry streak-free and did not have to be dried by hand (which meant that the dishwasher eliminated another step of hand dishwashing), a step that involved handling the dishes and using a dish towel which often was not changed every day. Sounds pretty good to me.

I appreciate the effort you made to explain the actions of a typical DW, TommyTurbo, and I agree with you. My issue is NOT with the appliance, which was no doubt a winner. My issue is with the advertising campaign.

What is upsetting is the perverting of the word SAVES.
Simply NOT spending money is NOT Saving it. This perversion can be seen in America as America has the LOWEST budgeted saving rate compared to all countries. Its a spend-thrift society, which is a weakness. That weakness was propagated in ads like this.

I think we can agree:
that no one has ever had the need to squat for their dishwasher,
no one SAVED money when they BOUGHT anything,
dishes don't create heat,
and Markus Bachman thinks he is SUPER !.

BTW- the East side.

"that no one has ever had the need to squat for their dishwasher,
no one SAVED money when they BOUGHT anything,

You have never had to retrieve anything that fell through the lower rack into the sump of a front loading dishwasher.

There was no mention of saving money, only intangibles like time and work along with water, but for someone who had a skin condition that was made worse by washing dishes, buying and using a dishwasher would save money on physician and pharmacy bills.

Dishes can be heated to the point where they are hot, like when a meal is served on pre-warmed plates. If an item is hot, it possessses heat. An object does not have to create its own heat to have its own temperature raised. Think of a closed car parked in the sun. It did not heat itself, yet there is no denying it is hot, especially if your flesh happens to come in contact with a piece of metal like a seatbelt buckle.

As for your fixation with the Dr., this is the wrong forum.
