Ross, Roger and I stormed Sears and found an Oasis to play with. It was even plugged in. It had a bedspread in it, and we ran it to see what it would do. Alas, no water, and in these days of electronic controls and insistent sensors, not much drama (although we did set almost every front-loader in the place that was hooked-up off into a spin). I left the Oasis fidgeting, performing an act similar to the F&Ps where they twirl and check water level, while we wandered off and explored the other machines. Several minutes later, I heard a rough clunking sound--apparently the Oasis had become annoyed, and started doing something (spinning the wash plate, maybe?) that caused the tub to bonk noisily into the cabinet, making a sort of dull crunching noise. I like the design of this machine insomuch as A) it doesn't have another freaking Dual-Action agitator, and B) it has a window in the lid (plus fifty points for that), but the whole thing seems to have such a light and limp suspension that I just could not bring myself to spend that much on it. The most plasticky of front-loaders feels more substantial than the Oasis. If you want $1000, you need to give me more metal than just the basket and the wiring, guys... |
