I thought I'd start this thread for ads misrepresenting the item for sale.  I'll start it off with a Speed Queen wringer machine made by Maytag.  Who knew? lol

I've never understood why they can't read the name that's stamped right on it.

I have to laugh!

I had a fellow chef tell me his Hobart dishwasher was no good and the chemical company was always fixing it.  It was a leased ECOLAB machine! LOL!  It was made by Jackson MSC.

Give Folks some leeway

I remember as kid,any electric fridge was a Frigidair, same with a wringer washer,it too became a Maytag.Usually they were the first electric appliances they owned.Vacuum cleaners were Hoovers.A mixer was a mixmaster.Kleenex was always and still is another name for tissue.Kate Smith was selling Scott tissue on her show, and closed by telling the audience,it was the best Kleenex you could buy.

Coke (a cola)

sarahperdue's profile picture
Down here, in the South, a coke is any kind of soft drink as in, "do you want a coke? What kind? I've got Sprite, Pepsi.."

One of our college friend's first jobs was with Coca-Cola. We called him a "Coke Narc." Coca-Cola aggressively defends its trademark, and Jim traveled around the US going into restaurants and other businesses that sold soft drinks. He'd order a Coke then take a sample back to Coca-Cola to be tested to ensure that the business was actually serving Coke. It seems most businesses have gotten the message. Now when ever I order a Coke in a Pepsi shop, the waiter asks, "Is Pepsi OK?" And no, it isn't although I will drink some Pepsi products.
