Hi there. Have had a lot to do the last week. My girlfriend and i will maybe move in to an own house and we have looked at some. In one of the houses (we will probably move in there) there was an very old Bendix washing machine in the wash room.

The machine is quite rusty and the owner said it did not spin, had boiled some times and sounded very loud. I did not had my camera with me but found an pic of a such machine here. I will post the pic after the text. Now you know more of these machines i guess, so i,m asking. Is it any good idea trying to repair it or is it just rubbish?

Oh, by the way, my Hovver Keymatic works again. At the local Dumpster we found one and the motor in that one was ok, so i changed to that motor. I took the program "box" also because my Hoovers was in bad shape.

Hi Fredrik

The Bendix shown is known as the Bendix Giromatic Model G in UK, was made here in 1961, these are solid machines, 9lb load with 550 rpm spin speed, dont need bolting down and weigh a ton at 280lbs, definatly a four man job wearing trusses.

Have posted a link to mine that Jetcone serviced last year, a very quiet machine and MINT porcelain tub.

Mike

p.s.Which type of Hoover Keymatic "Switch Box" did you find??

Was it the AU/AT Switch or Meander Type??

What a lovely machine.

Might be worth preserving Frederick's sample. How much could reporcelainizing/replating cost? :-)
