This POD is like a "Norman Rockwell", frilly aprons, homemade preserves on the shelves. It makes you feel like the Frigidaires are brand new on the back porch of an old farm house. alr |

That dryer looks like it's a re-badged Hamilton, which vented into the room. Hamilton was the first residential dryer, and no one thought of outdoor venting at the time. In the late 40's and early 50's, many brands just bought Hamilton and changed sme parts of the exterior and dials to match their washers.
I have an electric Hamilton from 1951, still based on the late 30's design, still venting right into the basement. They changed by the mid-50's, thank god. The design is a pretty slow air-flow design, so putting a tube or contraption for venting would likely make the dryer build up dangerous heat and become very slow and inefficient. Hamilton made gas models where the gas fumes vented outdoor, but the dryer heat vented like the one in the picture, into the room. I only use mine in winter, of course, it warms the basement up. |
