I am a second owner of a house I just purchased this year. This dishwasher has been awesome but recently has gotten stinky.I figure I need to clean out the filters. Now I need help on how to do it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Clean out the filter

Remove the bottom rack. Pull the 4-way hydrosweep wash arm vertically up off its support and remove from machine. You should then be able to remove the filter by pushing upwards from around the base of the filter. And see what's in there. Reassemble in reverse just as you did for removal. Make sure the filter snaps securely in place before putting the wash arm back in place. I did this totally inexperienced to a neighbor who didn't know her KDI17 had a filter. When I started doing what I described above, my mom told me later the neighbor thought I was destroying her dishwasher. (then I showed her the mayonnaise jar label and a couple of other things in there).
