This cycle was not like WPs later SW cycle, on the LKM it gave two complete washes back to back with liquid detergent automatically dispensed in both washes.
The reason these machines never rusted was because the entire cabinets of both the washer and dryer were completely finished in PORCELAIN ENAMEL, I think only one other appliance maker ever did this, who can name the other company that did this on their TOL models. |

I've worked on the most complex video eqpt from the 70s-90s and this is WAY too much complexity for a simple (wash-rinse-spin) function. Like the 'fast forward' timers of an adjacent era.
Scotty: The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain. Ya don't want yer drain stopped up, do ya? |

Because Hotpoint washers used the cabinet as the water collector like the early Frigidaires, they were porcelain, too. There was a lot of porcelain in Hotpoint's TOL water dryers, but I don't know if the whole thing was porcelain. |

Hi Eugene, I rescued one of these washers about 40 years ago and it now resides in Greg's collection in Nebraska, Greg also has a never used [ until he got it ] matching Electric dryer for this washer. The 1960 and 61-2 LKMs are the two rarest LKMs, Greg's 60 is the only one known and to my knowledge there are no 61-62 LKMs know to exist, the hunt goes on in the New Year
Happy Holidays Everyone John L. |
