Pricey but ...ad reads:

"This beautiful set of General Electric mid century appliances look as if they were frozen in time. The stove looks to have been almost never used and is absolutely flawless. Not a scratch or chip on it. Not even faded. The fridge is nearly flawless condition. It has a minor scuff mark from a strap that was fastened too tight during shipping. Did I mention the inside is turquoise? Will upload better pictures of the fridge soon. Both are tested and work perfectly. These would be the crown jewels of your mid century kitchen.

Stove: 44" (to top of rear control panel), 36" (to the cook top), 30" wide, 24" deep

Fridge: 55" by 24" by 24" ..."

....Needs a reality check.

A grand for two BOL appliances? They're not beat-up, but they're not as pristine as the ad copy would have you believe, unless all that schmutz around the range's pushbuttons was put there by GE's assembly-line workers.

My friend Jake has that range in his apartment. It's original to the building constructed circa 1960. His is not in as good a shape as that one.

"Where are the shelves . . . ?"

I know.  Usually it's "Where are the crispers?"

I have been guilty of that...

those old porcelain crisper drawers make great nail box holders in the garage! Of course in our case it was a matter of re-cycling as much as possible before the rest went to that "Great Appliance Store in the Sky"! Wire racks are useful too!
