Wow, just looked at the listing... That oven looks like it has hardly been used!

Re Stove..

I think GE made more of that style range than any one range ever,,they built it for nearly 20 years and my hometown is full of them, a very good stove.

These look to be in fantastic shape. I contacted the seller for pics of the freezer, as there weren't any with the listing. I wish this were a frost free model, as this is the color I've been looking for and these look to be in great shape.

And lastly, for the archives...

Out of curiosity, when does this date from?

Jason,

Nice. Both the range and the fridge have serial numbers with a second character of "S". That would appear to date them to 1959, according to this link:

www.geappliances.com/search/googl...

I can't say why the first characters of the serial numbers don't match any of the months of manufacture in the GE table, but they don't.

Neat! I just filed that link away for future reference. Did GE use a different date code structure for the years: 1961-1964; these date codes don't appear on the GE link (it jumps from 1960 to 1965)?

MINTY!

And I love those pull-out refrigerator shelves!

I can't imagine, though, an oven without a window.

Jason,

The GE link does show codes for 1961-1964 at the bottom of the table. GE used two-letter "year codes" for the years 1961-1968. My 1966 range, for example, has a serial number starting with SBZ.

This is a stunning set, and I agree, they never used the range. At. All.

I like that the spot for the range was designed to accept up to a full 40 inches.

What a shame it's only a 30" range. If that were a 40" I'd grab that set since it's fairly local

Theyre not getting easier to find. Especially in this condition. Sometime in the future you might kick yourself for not getting them.

I have what I believe to be the 58 version of this fridge in turquoise. Except it has the revolving shelves. The compressor runs like expected but it doesnt cool. Must have a leak. Too bad.

Ken that is a 1958 model

appliguy's profile picture
if it were the 1957 model it would have a pink interior. 1957 was the first year GE offered a a straight line designed 2 door fridge and 1958 was the last year for the revolving shelves which first made there appearance on the 1954 models….PAT COFFEY

I stated I believed mine is from '58. Were you just confirming this for me?

Thanks for the additional info.
