We have finally moved home after the hurricane (we had over 2 feet of water throughout our home). Fortunately, my vintage machines were in the workshop which is elevated two feet off of the ground. As a homecoming present to myself, I moved my 1-18 set into the house and enjoyed that familiar sound of jet action ... what fun!!! On another note, my LG washer made it through the flood fine, but I had to replace the gas dryer with another LG one. I now have to catch up on 5 months worth of posts ... its nice to be back home and to be back in Applianceville! Yeah! Todd

Welcome back to A.W.C. Todd! Glad that you are back home to New Orleans, and your machines were safe. Do you have to strip the walls of your home to the studs? (I have been hearing that some people do not have to strip out the walls if they were made of plaster)

Rick

Welcome Back, Todd!

I'm glad that you and your family are safe and that your vintage machines survived the storm. I'm sorry to hear about the damage to your home, but I'm glad that you were able to get it repaired to the point where you could move back in.

Mike

We had to gut the house/sheetrock four feet up throughout. We were lucky, as some folks had to go all the way up to the ceilings. It was a very humbling experience; you don't know what you have until you lose it. We are grateful to be back so soon ... we are the only ones on the block not living in a FEMA trailer. It's true, there's no place like home. My vintage washers were untouched, so I have much to be thankful for. And, I am so glad to be back to Applianceville ... thanks to so many of you all for the emails, calls, etc over the past five months ... the concern and kindness meant alot. So, I will soon begin my repair on the hotpoint solid tub washer and will post some pics once it's done. Todd
