washer stopped in mid cycle the other night when I put the lid down it won't start up again but if i open the lid and stick a piece of wood in the spot it starts up any advice would be helpful thx Mike

Check to make sure that the thing on the lid that interfaces with the switch has not broken off or is damaged. If it is, replacements are available.

It could be the lid switch needs replacement or adjusting. This is a common problem and is not a hard repair to do. Make sure the screws holding the lid switch in place are tight.
