Ad reads: " Own a piece of American history! This is a genuine working Coldspot Supermart fridge and freezer combination. It's in great condition, clean and can be yours today. As you can see, it comes with all pieces and would work well in a retro kitchen.
On the photo it looks like the door is tilted when it's open. However, this is quite ingenious design to keep the door and its contents in position (too bad, they don't make them like that anymore). It locks perfectly straight. As all things on Craigslist, this is cash only. No PayPal. No shipping to Nigeria. And no refund of too large cheques. |

Ad: " I don't know much about old refrigerators except ..... this one WORKS! It says 'GE Combination' on the front as well as 'Custom'. It's in very good shape, in my opinion, for something this old. The mechanical door handles work fine, the gasket is sticky, 2 door/ freezer on top, 'lazy susan' shelves . It appears to have been painted and has a few very minor rust spots. I'm pretty sure all the parts are there and work. I looked for a serial number but don't know where to look. I'm guessing at how old this is from looking at the internet. It was the 'drink frig' in the garage of a lake house we bought.
Delivery is possible for expenses. " |

That Supermart has some very desirable features and options. I'd peg it at no later than 1970.
A steal at $100.
My mom's '75 Coldspot was mechanically similar, and it was still running 33 years later when we brought our KA Architect in to replace it.
A mechanically similar '70 Whirlpool I bought used in 1990 for a garage/drinks fridge was still running fine 43 years later when Dave's daughter and son-in-law let it go after they bought their house. It came with a more efficient KA fridge for use in their garage. |
