my magic chef is up and running. My model was when they began the self cleaning lint filter. Don't care for it would the burperlator agitator and lint catcher work on my machine? my agitator looks just like it but there are no holes in the bottom. Any info would be helpful. Thanks MaytagMike.

I have the same washer

Wouldn't try it...I doubt it would fit on the drive shaft right. Lint removal is an issue as these washers have absolutely NO lint filtration system whatsoever...the self cleaning lint removal is a flat out lie.

I never really cared though, the washer was gentle and cleaned all the clothes better than any other washer I had used so I thought the lint was a small price to pay for a Maytag washer with a Norge transmission, before they went to the dual drive transmission and ruined the Norge design completely, not sure why they didn't go back to the Norge transmission when they realized the Performa's and Atlantis's were unreliable.

I hope to put mine back into service soon, it needs some work but a little TLC and it'll be good as new. It'll be a cold day in hell when I ever put more work into my norgetag which has lately given me nothing but trouble. I really think if Maytag had stuck with the Norge transmission for the Performa and Atlantis washers it would have been one of the most reliable top load washer designs of the 20th century, Sure the transmission's were loud but so what, they last forever...like a Maytag was supposed to. But unfortunately, all good things must come to end.

Maytag might still be here if the engineers had stuck to what they knew and not tried to cheapen everything and use plastic where it wasn't meant to be used.

Mike, are you sure it's porcelain? They had painted tubs back then. I remember them peeling it off.
