Its certainly been a busy appliance February what with ranges coming, stoves being picked up for folk, new washer/dryer sets appearing all OVER the landscape! And I wasn't even looking going into the month.

Well yesterday some items made their way to the S.S.S.W.

I rescued a Stove for Phil who is pining away for it. I retrieved the LK Electronic pair everyone was agog over- they are in nice shape.

Can't wait to see it in person! And if you need more space, I could get away with that coppertone washer at the back too!

Nice haul. What is the hold/restart button for?

What is the hold/restart button for?
Pause / continue a running cycle.

Hmmm, now I'm puzzled. There is also the Start/Off button on the right. Wouldn't that have the same purpose?

Pause

akronman's profile picture
The pause means the timer stops running, not the machine, so it just keeps on doing exactly what it's doing at that moment for as long as you like before you turn the timer back on and it continues cycle operation, automatically. I put a "timer killer" switch on almost every washer I own. On my Whirlpool 1960 with the four 12 seconds sprays for spray rinsing, I often kill the timer for an extra 30 or 45 seconds of contant spray, it makes for better rinsing. On my Suds model Filter-Flo, I kill it at the start of spin, that way I get a FULL tub of saveable suds instead of the timer telling the susd valve to close and spray rinse in only 2 minutes, I lose too much good suds that way.

Center dial Maytag 608----the deep rinse is too short if the load is jeans, towels, etc, so I just kill the timer for maybe 3 minutes, etc.

The only machines that seemed near perfect in all the timing/rinsing/spraying is my 1978 Norge Burpilator and my 1-18's. Other than that, I like the switch on my other models. I don't use it for every load, but now and then it is needed and convenient.

I thought the scenario was something like this

Start or Off switch was like the one or off button/switch on European appliances. Completely removed all power to the functioning control panel, thus cannot turn it on. But the hold/restart allowed one to pause the machine where it was in the cycle and keep it there until the switch was slid back to restart. Maybe better terms should have been pause/resume. The hold function held the timer and machine in suspension as it were and the timer did not advance. Nor did it completely wipe out exactly where the timer was in sequence to the cycle, which would happen if power was completely removed once the power switch was moved to off.

Start / Off is a power switch ... mechanically operates a holding relay as I recall.  Moving it to Off while running kills the power.

Hold pauses the running cycle, the electronic control board remains powered-on so it doesn't lose the selected cycle & settings.  I assume the motor stops for the duration of the Hold, otherwise one could leave the machine agitating or spinning for days!

Well I don't know

as I've never had a machine like this and I haven't run it through its cycles yet. I'll keep ya posted when I do.

Any day Above ground is a GOOD Day…

I just sense my 3+ year project is coming to a close after seeing those lady km pics.
YES!
Finally someone on the site has the machine I need the info from, thanks for posting Jetcone!
All i need now are 2 pics -
One of the wiring diagram of the lkm washer stuck on the back panel (fingers crossed thats its intact)
And one of the actual wiring of the start switch relay/hold relay/transformer/circuit board to get the colour coding right( when you get the chance to do some exploring of the panel innards??).

Was able to get the long sought after edge connector from MOLEX! Plus all the terminals that go with it, they were fast and easy to deal with too. Best part was I contacted them for a sample and got them in 2 days! If the pics dont show the part #'s clearly i can always post up later.

The amplifier thats below decided to send a small puff of smoke and a distinct crack sound when i powered up after a long sleep and has me busy tracking down 3 obsolete rectifiers and transitors, and now joins the 7 year old inverter welder with …yep, you guessed it , 2 obsolete IGBT devices!

Whats up with obsolete all of a sudden?
Go figure.…

And when you get a chance Jetcone…

Missing harness to build from scratch and complete electrical circuit for panel switches…
