I thought he resembled Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs....would have been a good choice...what better demonstration of cleaning than the man who gets the dirtiest...

Thanks for posting.  I saw this guy on TV in an ad for their dishwashers the other night and had meant to start a thread about him.

I gotta say, even though I know he's pushing re-badged Whirlpool product, I felt like buying anything he was selling.

This poseur couldn't shine Clay Jackson's shoes. OR Mike Rowe's for that matter.

I Guess They Figured -

A good-looking one made more sense, because I don't think Maytag repairmen are nearly as lonely as they used to be.

Maytag Man my foot...

The little old ladies who I see on my route wouldn't put up with the 5 o'clock shadow. It is interesting how they seem to be going for the Mike Rowe image (possibly avoiding paying the price for the real thing per Whirlpool standard operating procedure...)

It almost turns my stomach (what's left of it anyway... Lol!) to see the Maytag Man pushing Whirltags... Jessie's doing a ton of rolling right now...

As discussed in a previous thread ... that is actor Colin Ferguson.  :-)

Thanks Glen,  He looked familiar.   "You will have to get a new one",  is easier to accept if you are distracted. Cool

Has anyone seen the online split-side ads with the new Maytag tossing clothes?  Left side of screen is him pitching clothes, behind center content,  to his double, catching them on the right side of the screen.  Supposed to illustrate how Maytag top load washers work best with their matching dryers.  It is eye-catching to say the least and good to know he's versatile.

No doubt the stubble is designed to appeal to the younger females who are setting up households, not seasoned housewives with machines that are 20+ years old.

On line articles about the new look also point out that Maytag no longer makes any reference to the dependability that triggered the original lonely Maytag Man campaign all those years ago.  Now he's just pushing product, tagging it with, "What's inside matters."

Say what you will about him not being a corn-fed boy from Newton, but if I opened up my fridge and found him inside, I'd quickly take appropriate steps to warm him up.

What ever happened to that Maytag guy they hired in that huge public campaign a few years ago? I only saw him on an advert or two.

the 5 o'clock shadow.

Thats way beyond a 5 o'clock shadow, more along the lines of "buddy can you spare a dime"..

For those who missed the thread DADoES referred to, Colin Ferguson also played Sheriff Jack Carter on the series Eureka. His co-star was Ed Quinn who played Nathan Stark who ran Global Dynamics, the main employer in the town.

The actors had great chemistry and their characters were usually more concerned with each other than with whatever was going on in the show. I always hoped the writers would be bold and have them get together. Never Happened.

However, their interactions in the show provided fodder for countless Slash fan fiction stories in which those 2 characters DO get together.

I've attached a pic of Quinn. The 2 of them together? Yes, please!

Colin Ferguson

I just saw Colin Ferguson in an episode of Happily Divorced, playing the gay former fiancee of the gay present fiancee of the gay divorced husband of actress Fran Drescher. Could you get this?

That's Clay. I met him at one of our Appliance Roadshows from THD a couple years ago. Hilariously funny. All the gals (and some of us guys) found him hot! If it weren't for that pesky wedding ring...

Whatever happened to Clay? Wasn't he the one picked out of that huge contest Maytag had a couple of years ago?

Maytag will keep going through Maytag Men until they settle on the one they should have picked in the first place - the best possible Maytag Man and all-around brand booster:
