Hey there! Nice looking Highlander - 126 - a non-timed fill unit. I would venture to say that a new motor would fix up the spin issues - symptoms point to the thermal switch kicking it off. This little one could be a real nice workhorse. Congrats!

Looks like early 60's 62 or 63 maybe. These are great machines. Once you get it cleaned up and running it will spoil you rotten!

That one looks a lot like the one I remember giving away in '85. I got it for $50 in '80.

What may have seen so very plain in the product lineup when this was new, is now gorgeous.

You are right Bob. Not only this machine, but maybe we should count all of them that fit this category.

Before you go looking for a motor, remove the drive and pump belts from the motor pulley and see if the motor runs without going out on the thermal overload when it has no load on it.

This is the same generation as mine with only 3 buttons for water temperature. That woman had that washer for 44 or 45 years and she was around 46 or 47 when she bought it. Amazing. Funny how the Maytag logo is not in red. Mine isn't either and I thought it had just faded away. The thing that gets me about this machine is that it has all of the features of the more deluxe machines, but in the cheap washer format.
