During the auction I emailed the seller to let me know if he would sell the dryer seperate...I just heard back that both went to the scrap yard..

Sad day for sure to hear that something like that is going to be scrapped especially when it doesn't look to be in that bad of shape for its age.

So the starting bid was $250 which was highly inflated, and then after getting no bids the seller decides the machines are suddenly worthless and scraps them?  Even after a potential bidder expressed interest in the dryer?

What is wrong with these people?

I really don't understand people sometimes. These worked and could have been restored but rather than let that happen, the seller scrapped them? Why even bother lifting them in the first place?!

That is sad. Some people do not appreciate what they have or what they are worth. Impatience and ignorance are a fatal combination and an all too common pair of traits in today's society in many areas, especially this.

Well they were not in very good conditions as I could see many signs of rusting and humidity, especially on the back of the machines and in the westy dryer drum...
But nothing that cannot be fixed, I suppose?
I have seen machines returning to their full glory that were in way worse conditions.....of course...
You know.....I often think at the day I will move to US (because sooner or later this is going to happen)' and always wonder how the hell I will be able to find a Vintage pair for me, yes, because probably I'll end having a modern pair I would and could not really be happy with, of course.... This at least for the first periods of course....
Vintage are starting to "scarce", at least they does not appear in ads with the same frequence they used to....and it is really bad when I hear stories ending like this, and I say....holy fuck that pair could have been mine, I would kill to have just that washer....

Moms advice

My mom used to say, "if you can't say anything nice about someone, don't say anything at all.." You've heard that one many times before. So in honor of my mom, a moment of silence.

Ok, party's over.

What a flaming ahole. I hope the truth was otherwise.

Your comment brings to mind what Ive read Bette Davis supposedly said when she heard Joan Crawford had died. "My mother always told me to speak good of the dead. Joan Crawford is dead; good."

Its Hollywood legend that there was no love lost between Bette and Joan. Even so, if true, thats pretty cold.

Not surprised, actually. When the auction didn't produce what the seller was holding out for, they'd rather scrap everything as it didn't meet their expectation. I've seen this time and again.

I will not put into words my terminology for this seller, but Cartman's condition is what the seller is. Destroying them is so stupid, but then he could not read the name plates on the machines so maybe it's just abysmal stupidity after all, compounded by optorectalis, otherwise known as a shitty outlook on life.

You might consider calling those local scrap yards. Sometimes the independents take a few days before they crush.... The slant front would stand out in someone's memory. Just a thought.

Seller is an IDIOT and should GET OUT of the auction business-If someone expressed interest in the machines-they should have been held for him.If this seller worked for me-would have FIRED him on the spot!!!Surely he could have sold these for more than what he got in scrap value.Guess if folks want these-call the scrappers in that area.Hopefully they could be saved from the crusher-baler,shredder!
