I took a short video of my Whirlpool WTW4800 washing a few microfiber cloths for the car today, and decided I'd share it with others that would appreciate it, since you can really see the force of the rollover action.

I absolutely love this washer. In a world where it seems that the gate is closing on ever having machines that simply do what they're designed to do and do it well, this washer seems to be a glimmer of hope. It's a belt-drive that uses a 1/3 HP induction motor, but it seems to have plenty of power even with heavy loads of jeans and towels and such. I like that the agitation arc is wide and slow, and it seems to be much more gentle than some transmission style washers, especially the old direct drive blender machines. My favorite part though is the amount of control I have with it. It has four water level settings, where the one shown in the video is set to Small, which fills up right above the lower agitator, and Super fills all the way to the top, above the top row of holes. As far as rinsing, there is a selector with four options, Off, Extra Rinse, Fabric Softener On, and Fabric Softener w/Extra Rinse. Leaving it set to Off does a short spin after the wash, and then drizzles water on the load while pulse-turning the tub, but for only a couple of minutes, before doing a max speed final spin. I never move mine from Fabric Softener On, as it operates exactly like a traditional washer; full fill wash, spin, full fill rinse, final spin. The other two options will do either a spray-rinse, followed by a short spin then a full rinse, or vice versa for the other.

As far as noise, I actually like the way this machine sounds. The agitation almost sounds like a slowed down version of my aunt's '98 Frigidaire top load (her transmission has that nicely aged rhythmic whine to it), and the spin has a sort of jet engine sound when it's ramping up speed. My only beef is with the drain pump, but every magnetic style pump seems to be loud like this one anyway. It's not so bad that I have to close the laundry room door when it's running at least.

Overall though, for those of you looking for a new machine that actually works like a normal washer, I think this is the closest you'll get. Just be wary of the Auto-Water level sensing machines since they look identical, as I've seen horrible video reviews of them filling barely up to the paddles of the agitator and then tearing back and forth in a heavy load of clothes.
