Why in the world did americans ever give up on enameled stoves? Im glad to say goodbye to all those endless days of wiping fingerprints and smudges off my stainless steel nightmare.

It would have to be after 1975 given the surface units are knobs rather than pushbutton. Our expert Sandy will need to chime in here, he'll know the exact year. Is a very pretty color.

Appnut

Appnut, this is not my dream stove but i could not tolerate my 2013 stainless frididaire that cooked unevenly, was a cleaning nightmare and scratched everytime i touched it with a paper towel. It also had rust on handles at 1 year old. Piece of .... My dream stove is out there, i just gotta wait and old yeller here is serving me well.

Sandy' GE range which is a 1972 model has knobs instead of pushbuttons.

Tee,

I had a stainless kitchen that I actually liked, but
was not married to it.

I would take it over what I have now hands down.

My kitchen is all white with the exception of the stove and it's black.
The dishwasher was black too and it's now gone.

It came with the house and I absolutely hate it. Shows everything 10X
worse than the stainless I had and has to be cleaned every time it's used.

I can't wait to replace it with something all white or a color from the
50's to the 70's. I just haven't found the right one yet.

BTW, I think your "new" one is very smart. They just don't make them
with any real style today. Good save!

Bill

Model and serial numbers?

robinsondm's profile picture

surfertee,

Can you give us the model and serial numbers of your range? They should be on a metal placard on the front of your range, behind the storage drawers or the oven doors. The first place I'd look is on the divider between the 2 storage drawers.

With the model and serial numbers, we should be able to date your range exactly. Thanks,

Dean

Coincidence

robinsondm's profile picture

Tee,

By coincidence, I almost bought a Frigidaire 40" stainless steel range to replace my 1966 40" GE range. Fortunately, I found this site first, and decided to keep the old range. You can read more here:

I managed to post that "coincidence" link twice by mistake. Just edited the 2nd post to remove the repetition...
