Guys, i have some news for you. Mueller Superpop washing machine.

This is the cheapest washing machine one can find in brazilian market and it's a great solution for people that can't afford an automatic washer or for those who want a second washer to save suds.

It's totally manual, even being called "semi-automatic" (it's called like that because of the 15 minute timer to turn it off).

The great about this little wonder is that it cleans like no other, specially super dirty clothes.

I hope you like it.

What a super little washer that is! Such a good idea to have it packed away for easy transportation from the store too. I bet this is a real boon to families who could not afford an automatic and I suppose with your weather you can manage without a spinner if you can's afford one. Thank you for the video, I really enjoyed it.

You're right, Paul.

Lots of low income families don't have a spinner and they don't have problems at all thanks to our very hot weather.

I always spin the clothes in ultra high speed but, i'm going to make a test only to see how long they take to line dry after squeezed by hand. I bet it won't take more than 1 hour, even in an apartment, during the summer.

Great video!

thanks for posting this! I like seeing what kind of machines are popular/affordable in other countries. This unit reminds me of a washer/spin dryer that Mum used about 37 years ago.

What BOL front load washers do you have in Brazil?

Great video!

I really enjoyed watching it! What kinds of spin dryers are available? In the US there seems to be just Spin-X and a whole lot of small, cheaply built junk. Guys, please correct me if I'm wrong.

In the northeastern part of the US it's damp enough for much of the year that line drying is a problem. Years ago heating systems were less efficient so basements were an excellent place to hang a clothesline. Now? Not so much. Hence our interest in high spin speeds and dryers.

Thanks for a great view. I'm loooking forward to more.

Jim

Paul

The BOL front loader washer is Mueller Special Cold Water.

It's so simple that it doesn't even have an internal heater.

Following it, there' s the Mueller Special "Hot Water", as simple as the previous version but with an internal heater.

The cheapest washer-dryer is, again, Mueller Special that is also the best cost x benefit on the market because it washes and dries perfectly like any other premium brand but costs much less and it's more reliable.
And now Mueller is launching the 4th "Special" model: Mueller Special "Easydry" washer-dryer... It's the only washer-dryer on the market that has a vented drying, 30% faster than all the others, that are condenser dryers. and yes, it still being the cheapest front loader washer-dryer on the market.

The Special family was launched in 2012 and it's a huge success in my region (southern states). The first washer-dryer units had some troubles drying on colder regions but Mueller fixed it fast. Who owns one of those machine simply loves it.

@Jim

There are several brands of spin dryers thinking quickly, i can remember more than 8 different brands and more than 10 different models.

The best on the market, nowadays is KIN Koh-i-noor because it's all made of stainless steel and it spins at 3100 RPM.

Mueller also have an excellent spin dryer, the Nina Soft. It spins at 1600 rpm, which is a much safer speed and it won't damage delicate items. the final result doesn't have a huge difference compared to KIN. it only needs 1 minute more to extract almost the same amount of water.

If you consider a load of towels previously spun in a regular top loader washer, the mueller can spin almost 4 liters of water off the fabrics. it can cut drying costs (if you use a dryer) by 70%. AFAIK, the Nina Soft spin dryer is also available in the US.

The worst is Arno (Groupe SEB) famous for exploding during the cycle. There's also a chinese crap sold by Britania. So ridiculous that consumers look at it on the show rooms and laugh.

That's a neat washer you got there.I thought I was looking at a foot mas-sager/bath machine kind looks like one we have here at the

house with the spinners and everything ... I don't see how you survive down there everything being sooooo $$$$.. I could

see a market for something like though because of that fact..

How much did that machine cost? I was wondering how economical it is. It sure looks nice and is quiet in operation too. Great video too, I enjoyed it.

@WES

I don't know if i have to laugh or cry. Yes, you're right.... People simply live and use the creativity to be able to do things paying less.

Comparing price to price (and considering the minimum wage), this little machine costs the same as a BOL top loader AND a BOL dryer in the US.

But one good thing.... This little machine is intentionally made to be simple and cheap but very efficient and reliable. they last a lot and they are easy to fix (usually change a worn belt) . When the machine can't be fixed anymore, it can be totally recycled.
They are literally built as a Tupperware vaccum pot or a Rubbermaid bucket. And, if you don't overload it frequently and don't let it under direct sunlight, they can last for more than 15 years without any trouble, even being used several times a week.

Mueller is the only company in Brazil that intentionally make all the products to last and be easy and cheap to fix. That's why it's a huge success, not only among poorer people but also some people that can afford more expensive machines prefer the tradition and reliability of a Mueller.

In Brazil it costs the equivalent to 75 dollars. (of course using only the exchange rate, not the minimum wage)

In the US, considering the freight and taxes, a machine like that could coust something near 35 dollars.

Today i washed FOUR loads in the same water.  Whites, light colors, 2 king size sheets and the fourth (the water was turning grey), I added a little bit more of detergent and washed mops.

While the next load was washing, i rinsed and spun previous load in the Mueller Special front loader.

Squeeze the soapy water and change the load to another machine may sound a little messy but, the electricity and water savings were visibly impressive. 4 loads using only one pod (Ariel Pods) and a tablespoon of Ariel Powder.

When I drained the machine, i saw the water was really used at it's limit. When automatic washers drain, I can usually notice the wash water could still be used for at least one more load.

And this machine really cleans even on cold water. It spanks the dirt out of clothes. I never saw an agitator top loader doing the same, even the most agressive agitations.
For people that have very dirty clothes, a machine like this is a "must have". Unless people enjoy scrubbing stains by hand, one by one, before loading the washer.

for the information Thomas, I do like the Mueller F/L that you had/have. I enjoyed the video of that a great deal.

Thanks PaulC

That washer/dryer is special not only on it's name...

I wish people could have it both in Europe and North America too. Who would dare to say a machine 100% made of plastic would be so well designed and built?
Again, the brazilian creativity showing it's tricks. One of the few good things in this country. It's cheap, it's dependable and it's a machine that you can literally load the clothes set the program and forget and you can be sure the result will be always perfect. The removable drum is a plus. It's design is so modern and cute that I use mine as a laundry basket in my bedroom.

Certainly I'll miss both Mueller machines when i move to the U.S. Luckily two Mueller products are already available there: The Nina Spin Dryer and the Solaris static dryer.

I wish they could have the TOL Soleil version instead of the MOL Solaris.

But at the same time, I wish Mueller could launch a mini automatic washer like the 1 Cu. Ft. Haier  here in Brazil. It's a niche that's not totally explored yet.

In big cities, apartments are getting smaller day after day. People simply don't have room enough for a standard automatic washer. The alternatives today are the Electrolux Mini Silent (which is an excellent front loader but too expensive) and the Brastemp Eggo, (Too small for jeans and it doesn't spin).

A 2 or 3 kg cheap automatic top loader would be great, just like the 1kg Haier.

Mueller already has two medium size automatic top loaders, one with an agitator and one with an impeller. They are the cheapest top loaders in Brazil and they are, again, very good machines for the price. Mueller's trick is offer good quality and low prices using cheaper material that won't affect the durability. Of course they aren't the best top loaders on market but, they are very good and very cheap, even being obsolete.

I've been following the innovations Mueller launches every year... Last year they came up with Mueller Big Mais, a huge semi-automatic washer with some extra features like the drain control on the control panel and the Soleil, an static dryer like Solaris but with a digital control panel. I bet this year they will come up with a new spin dryer or a new automatic top loader. I'm looking forward for that.

By the way, years ago Mueller also had a Superpop version called Superpop Glass. I wish they could bring it back.

I want to slap my face every time i remind I didn't buy that machine. It's exactly the same Superpop but all made of clear plastic, just like the lid nowadays.  One could see everything happening inside the machine from all angles. It's really fun to see them washing.

Other thing i like on Mueller products are the innovations. All models, from the cheapest Superpop to the TOL Special washer/dryer have some kind of innovation. Superpop has the pedestal that comes in the machine and the whole machine weights only 7kg. It's the same weight as a bucket full of water. The Special front loaders have the exclusive removable drum and the quick access hatch, that allows adding clothes at any time without draining the machine.

Other thing I love is that they are the only manufacturer in Brazil that makes the machines to last. Even being cheap, it doesn't mean they aren't good. They design the parts and overdimension some of them (like the bearings on front loaders) to make the machines last much longer than others. They also design the machines to be easily fixed and have an excellent internal policy to keep the replacement parts price always low. It incentivates people fixing instead of replacing the machines and of course, it helps our economy. And when a mueller product finally dies, the consumers are still happy because it was cheap and lasted for several years, making it worth every cent.

You're moving to the U.S.? Well welcome Thomas! With an adapter/transformer you could probably use your Super Pop here. It would be so unique!

Thanks, Louie... Those are my plans for the next months...

Sooner or later, the EAS and the sirens will go off in Los Angeles area to alert the population that hurricane Thomas is arriving. LOL
The good thing is that I wouldn't even need a transformer because both Brazil and the US have the same current (110V for small appliances and 220V for heavy appliances like A/C or tumble dryers.) The only difference is the plug but I can either use an adapter or simply replace the plug or the whole power cord.

The bad thing is that i won't be able to take my belongins with me. I'll have only a big suitcase with personal belongins and a box with an Electrolux Mini Silent as a gift to a very good friend.

I don't know where I'm going to live exactly but, if it's an apartment or a small studio without a washer, I just know I won't use a laundromat or a coin op washer in the basement. And the machine i'll be able to afford for the first months will certainly be one of those lovely and tiny Haier.

It's here! It's Here!

Folks, I have great news...

Mueller Superpop will be launched here in the US really soon.

The Laundry Alternative already have the washers here and they are going to launch it on the next weeks (maybe the next days)

The American version of Superpop has exactly the same design as the Brazilian one but with some different technical specs and some features that the Brazilian version doesn't have.

It will be affordable and I can guarantee it's really fun to use it. That little washer is excellent!

When I first read the opening sentence to this post I thought it said Mueller superpoop. Yup, the notorious impeller bucket, comes in handy but ties clothes in knots if allowed to swirl around for too long.

@ Rapunzel

Don't ask me how because i don't know how to answer but the Superpop doesn't tangle the clothes that much, unless you overload it.
