I am not familiar with the Whirlpool products, especially of the vintage in the photo, so I am curious - in the bottom right photo, where the Suds-Saver is illustrated, why is the top of the console folded back? Is there something related to this function that is ordinarily concealed by the top of the console?

Lawrence, I think what is shown is the reflection of the black suds hose and some of the white foam on top of the water being reflected in the chrome end cap of the control panel.

Tom, you could be right, although I'm having trouble seeing that. But it was confusing to think the top needed to be flipped back for something, so perhaps that's what it is.
