I will start with the AM-14 from Hobart. By far the best performing DW I have ever used.

I have had 3 of the late model Frigs in different houses and liked them all. Current one has the "peace sign" lower spray arm and cleans anything I throw at it. |

Well... I think everyone know's my standpoint.
Fast, especially compared to most machines today, quiet, frugal. Love the DishDrawer. And cleans nicely to boot. |

My favorite dishwasher was a 2008 LG model 9810. It had a cavernous interior, cleaned pots/pans like a champ, and had a cutlery rack. Although not as hushed as my nearly silent new GE, the LG's larger interior dimensions and cutlery rack give it the edge as my favorite. Unfortunately, LG dishwashers are notoriously unreliable. Mine gave excellent service under very heavy use for 5-1/2 years, but a cracked drain hose did substantial damage to my kitchen floor and subflooring. I no longer trusted it, so it was repaired and gifted to a friend, for whom it is behaving very well.
I now own a GE Profile PDT750 which is a smaller machine, both inside and out. It cleans as well as the LG, is nearly silent in operation, and has two short cycles I use often (Express at 30 minutes; Light at 49). The LG felt more substantial. The racks were heavier and glided smoothly and silently. The door was sturdier and the interior was beautifully lit when the door was opened. I miss the cutlery rack, and one is available on the new GE PDT760. However, having just spent a pretty penny on the PDT750, I'm not keen on forking out a grand just to have the cutlery rack. Besides, it will take away a few inches of height from the upper rack. The LG is pictured on the left; the 4-photo composite is the GE. Wish I could combine the silence of the GE with the larger interior and panache of the LG. It would be the perfect dishwasher! |

Bosch or Miele, have strayed from these brands and always go back to them. Our Bosch model will wash a full load with only 6 litres of water with stunning results.

Yes... I have exactly what I want with my Hoover Dynamic dishwasher and I wouldn't part with it for the world ;-)
I like it so much because it has so many different programs that I can choose a cycle according to my mood. That said... for someone who's not as moody and wants their dishwasher to automatically choose the best settings upon each use, this might not be the most suitable model. I like the Bosch dishwashers mentioned above which manage a load with only 6 litres of water: I'm often easily seduced by efficiency! The look of that Fisher & Paykel above is stunning and the drawers design is sooo unique ;-) |
