My center dial Maytag gas dryer (I think Model 408) is located on my back porch. As long as the outside temp is cool (50-60 degrees) it will fire up and dry - If it is warm (Like in the afternoon 70 plus degrees) it will turn on but will not ignite. Any help with this problem will be appreciated. Thanks !!!!
Bob

Hi Bob, you probably have bad valve coils. The funny thing about your post is I just changed the valve coils on my 1977 WP Mark 12 dryer [ LFI9800YO ] that is on my back porch on Sunday, it was doing the same thing. When these coils fail they often become intermittent in operation and very heat sensitive.

Give a call some time, John.

Funny.... my WP Cabrio dryer just started doing the same intermittent thing just over a week ago.   It starts drying fine, but by the time I notice there's 7 - 10 minutes remaining, the clothes are cold and still damp.

I'll try changing those coils, THANKS JOHN!

Kevin

I may have the same problem...

on my 1979 Maytag gas dryer. Where do you buy these coils and are they difficult to change out? I already changed the thermostats for new ones.
