69 and 55dB ?!

Are you kidding?
Since I read the forums I learned that American style machines are noisier because of the built-in grinder but over here the noisiest dishwasher on the market is rated at 51 dB!
I hope that measuring systems are different from the EU to the US, otherwise you would need to leave the kitchen whenever the dishwasher is running.
69 dB is the noise of my washing machine while spinning! :O
I can't imagine having a an appliance like that running for one or two hours!

Nothing new. In my opinion, DW design in the US is way behind the EU. There "efficent" DWs still use 15l+ each cycle, take up to 4h and are barely less than 45dB loud. And still, there are complaints about poor cleaning and stuff like that. In Germany, 80% of all DWs sold are 45dB loud or less, they barely use more than 20l of water in any cycle, they only use 1 kWh or less on cold water conection (Eco cycle), they take not more than 3:30h on the longest cycle and still we do not have rows of consumers complaining about poor results. We use less water (as small amounts as 6l), less energy (as small as 0.6kwh on cold water connection), are more silent (the loudest DW offered here is 55dB I think) and are Stil faster (THW longest Eco cycle I can remember is 3:30h).

Aren't your machines running on 220v ?
Faster and more efficient water heating from cold water than American machines.

True. But yours are hot water connected? I mean, most of the times. Not an expert, but is central heated water more or less efficent?

Central Heated Water

Unless you have a constant hot water circulation system installed in your home, most likely you are going to get cold water supplied at the dishwasher as the distance between the water heater and the dishwasher can be great.

If you like the dishwasher, why not add some sound insulation to it? Our old Electrolux washer has an open base (no anti-leak feature) and a brushed motor, so it was rather loud during the spin cycle. I simply put a folded towel underneat the washer and it became noticably quieter. Try a DIY store and ask for sound insulaion material. Looking at a parts list of a DuraWash, I see that there is almost no insulation at all.
